ORIGINS OF THE COLD WAR KNOWLEDGE TEST - GCSE/ IGCSE (CIE PAPER 1 - KQ4) / GCSE

(0)
This resource comprises a 103 question knowledge test based on the key information of the Origins of the Cold War. Currently used as a fact test / team quiz / revision resource for my students studying CIE IGCSE for KQ4, I’ve also used it for the Edexcel IGCSE module on Superpower Tensions as well as for the British GCSE curriculum. The test is broken down into the 9 sections outlined below and could be used all together as a single summative assessment or a fun team based quiz at the end of the topic. Alternatively the test could be delivered as 9 mini checkpoints throughout the course which is how I often use them to build knowledge. Additionally, they are great for a low stakes starter, plenary or homework task. Resource details: Section A: Why did the US-Soviet alliance begin to break down in 1945? (13 questions) Section B: The Yalta Conference, February 1945 (16 questions) Section C: The Potsdam Conference, July 1945 (11 questions) Section D: The Iron Curtain Speech, 1946 (6 questions) Section E: Stalin’s Takeover of Eastern Europe (8 questions) Section F: How did the USA react to Soviet Expansionism? (15 questions) Section G: The Berlin Blockade (Causes and Events), 1948 (13 questions) Section H: The Berlin Blockade (Consequences, NATO and the Warsaw Pact) (11 questions) Section I: Who was to blame for the Cold War? (11 questions) Great for revisiting at the end of the chapter, at the end of the whole scheme/core content, during the revision period or incorporating into a study pack before students go on study leave. This resource also comes with a full and detailed answer sheet to speed up marking or for students to self assess with. 1920S USA REVISION GUIDE AND ACTIVITY BOOK - KS4 GCSE & IGCSE CONTENT

(0)
A complete 40 page revision guide covering every inch of 1920s America. This guide is perfect for **streamling and consolidating **the content of the 1920s for any KS4 students studying History at GCSE or IGCSE level. Most of my students love History. Many of them, however, say they struggle to remember the vast amounts of content and nitty gritty details of every topic. Even more say they struggle to know how to revise when they’re on their own. This 40 page revision guide and activity booklet was designed last year with them in mind, as a way to streamline the content of their US depth study and provide them with stimulating and challenging review tasks throughout to make their revision active, rather than passive, and in doing so maximise understanding and recall! This booklet contains full summaries of the key causes, features, events and consequences of the economic boom on US society, and examines the political, economic and social facets of each of these. In particular, my students found the breakdowns of key concepts into mnemonics, flow charts, fact files and colourful mindmaps extremely helpful in chunking the course content into easily digestible pieces and linking different aspects together. Alongside these accessible and engaging explanations are numerous revision activites such as: challenge grids, knowledge organisers, diamond 9s, gap fills, scaffolded exam questions, model answers, colour codes, source analyses and many more. This booklet covers the 1920s and social change only. Part two, covering the bust of the 1930s and attempted recovery during Hoover, FDR and WWI will be available soon! 1920s USA revision guide and activity booklet for the CIE IGCSE Depth Study (Paper 4)

(1)
This resource has been produced following the completion of the New Paper 4 IGCSE training course delivered by Cambridge International Examinations for the 2024 onwards specification (CIE), as well as using pupil feedback from the first cohort. Most of my students love History. Many of them, however, say they struggle to remember the vast amounts of content and nitty gritty details of every topic. Even more say they struggle to know how to revise when they’re on their own. This 50 page revision guide and activity booklet was designed last year with them in mind, as a way to streamline the content of the US depth study and provide them with stimulating and challenging review tasks throughout to make their revision active, rather than passive, and in doing so maximise their understanding as well as their recall abilities! This booklet provides a complete review of 1920s USA content for the CIE IGCSE Depth Study (Paper 4). It contains full summaries of the key causes, features, events and consequences of the economic boom on US society, and examines the political, economic and social facets of each of these. The Paper 4 was new to all of us last year so I was thrilled when numerous students in my class gained over 35/40, with one student gaining 40/40. This booklet and my paper 4 masterclass were the two things students cited as most helpful in their pupil voice reflections after the exam. This booklet covers the 1920s and social change only. Part two, covering the bust of the 1930s and attempted recovery during Hoover, FDR and WWI will be available soon! IGCSE History Paper 2 model answers (2024) - KQ5, Cuba focus (CIE 0470)

(0)
A complete set of 5 model answers for the 2024 Paper 2 topic - KQ5 (Containment). These model answers focus specifically on the Cuban Missile Crisis and contain a broad cross section of question types for this paper. This lesson has been produced following the completion of the new Paper 4 IGCSE training course delivered by Cambridge International Examinations for the 2024 specification (CIE). Great for use as in class activities or as a whole pre-made assessment with the model answers to support feedback. Crucially, I’ve found using model answers such as these invaluable when walking students through exam technique during revision sessions, and helping to translate the demands of the mark scheme into something tangible and understandable. Having the models to serve as clear examples of what high scoring answers should look like has resulted in higher quality assessment answers from my own classes, as well as those of my colleagues. Students too have commented on how useful it has been to have a benchmark to measure their own answers against, while doing independent revision and practising past paper questions at home. Specific content: Study Sources A and B. How far do these sources agree? Explain your answer using details from the sources. Study Source C. Why was this cartoon published on 29th October 1962? Explain your answer using details from the source and your knowledge. Study Sources D and E. How far does Source D make Source E surprising? Explain your answer using details from the sources and your knowledge. Study Source F. What is the cartoonist’s message? Explain your answer using details from the source and your own knowledge. Study ALL the sources. How far do these sources provide convincing evidence that the Cuban Missile Crisis was a success for Khrushchev? Use the sources to explain your answer.
