Handwriting similar letters - c o a d g q

(0)
What’s included? This download includes x3 A4, pdf sheets (portrait orientation) to practise handwriting the lowercase letters c, o, a, d, g, q . Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. These resources have been designed to focus on the common confusion there can be for some learners when writing letters which are visually similar. This resource set should help in providing some focused additional support looking at these letters together, reinforcing the correct way of writing letters with similar shapes. These letters are all written in a similar way, starting at the top and beginning by curving round to the left… Resource details The font used is Sassoon Infant Std - size 100. This activity has been designed to write straight on. Each letter has a clear ‘starting dot’ so learners know where to place their pencil to begin and dotted lines on top of letters provide guidance of where exactly to write. I have grouped these letters into pairs - c/o, a/d and g/q. There is a clear space for learners to write their name on the line at the base of the sheet. There is also a clear space to record the number date at the top, right of the sheet, helpful to keep completed sheets and track progress (and improvement!) over time. All letters are positioned on a line - to model how letters should look when positioned correctly on a line. Important message… ANY issues with this resource please don’t hesitate to let me know - I am happy to make changes. Feedback of this resource would be brilliant! Thank you New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available!

Alphabet match ALL x26 letters
alphabetlearningalphabetlearning

Alphabet match ALL x26 letters

(0)
What’s included? Includes ALL x26 alphabet letters with the same colour (grey) outline - so sets can be used in any combination - mix and match which letters/sounds to focus on depending on the needs of your learner/s. This download includes x22 pdfs, portrait in colour each featuring five/ten images that all begin with one sound - a b c d e/o f g h i/u j k l m n p q r s t v/y w x/z. Letter ‘x’ is the only exception where the x sound is at the END of those words/images. What’s it for? This resource is to enable learners to practise identifying the first (initial) sound (phoneme) of objects (images) and match these with the correct, matching letter (grapheme). I have also grouped these letters into coloured sets (red, orange, yellow, green and blue - also available in my TES shop). However, this black and white (grey) set enables adults to focus on the sets learners need additional exposure to. How to use it? An adult prints the letter sheets (required) out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters’ from the ‘images’ (instructions are included on each sheet itself). These pieces (images and letters) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match. Learners are to match the image with the correct initial letter sound as a two part mini jigsaw puzzle. Each letter only fits the images which have the same initial letter (end/final sound for x). This is a fun and engaging way to practise recognising these letters and identifying the correct initial letter (phonics) sound for five/ten images (per letter). Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one as well as older students needing additional learning support, revisiting any/all of these sounds. Resource Details The images chosen all have a clear initial letter sound at the beginning but are not words which can easily be sounded out. The focus of this activity is purely to identify the initial letter sound for these images - the cross (top right of each image) indicates that these images are not to be sounded out. A sound-out-able version of this ‘Alphabet Match’ activity (with matching worksheets) for every letter (using Phase 2 and 3 sounds only) is available in my TES shop. The layout of every letter/sound in this set is in the same format, making this a predictable and structured activity, ideal to keep learners engaged and independent. Resource layout The font used is ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ - size 120, so a large, ‘easy to read’ size. Resource layout The word search letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. The words have been organised into four groups, displayed below each word search. Most nouns have been illustrated next the the word, supporting early readers and learners with EAL. Arrows showing the direction for hidden words for each individual word search are displayed at the top of page 1. Spring words x17 words to find. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards) and vertically (up as well as down). Wordsearch Months and seasons of the year

(0)
What’s included? This download includes one ‘months of the year’ word search in colour AND black and white. There are x4 pages in total, all portrait orientation in pdf format. The x12 months and x4 seasons of the year are hidden in a x10 by x10 square grid, with the hidden words clearly listed in four (seasonal) groups underneath. The answers (on page 2) clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) for easy comparison and quick reference. Who’s it for? This word search has been carefully designed to encourage young readers in the early years and pupils in years one and two (as well as students needing additional learning support) with reading key words. Knowing these time-related words (the months of the year and seasons) both reading them on-sight and learning the correct spellings will benefit both reading and writing. Resource layout Page 1 The words for the twelve months have been organised into groups of four according to which season they are part of. The box for each season has been colour coded (in the colour version) to make this clearer, the ‘season word’ for each group is also hidden within the word search. There are x16 words to find in total. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards). Words to find are; Winter, December, January, February, Spring, March, April, May, Summer, June, July, August, Autumn, September, October and November (all are hidden as lower case letters). Page 2 The layout is exactly the same design as page 1 making cross referencing the answers quick and easy and encouraging learners to be autonomous. The position of the hidden words is made clear by the colour coded lines as well as a small arrow to the left of each word which identifies the direction of the hidden word. Recommendations I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible. If words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify. This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused. Important message…* ANY issues with any of this resource please don’t hesitate to let me know - I am happy to make changes. Wordsearch - Harvest Festival, x21 words to find

(0)
What’s included? This download includes x2 (portrait orientation, pdf) A4 sheets, featuring one ‘Harvest Festival’ word search (page 1). The answers on page 2 clearly show where all words are hidden, displayed in the same layout (as page 1) to promote autonomy whilst providing easy comparison/quick reference. Other seasonal wordsearches including Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, Halloween, Remembrance Day, Bonfire Night and other seasonal celebrations are also available in my TES shop. Who’s it for? This word search has been designed for pupils in years one and two, as well as students needing additional learning support. Resource layout The word search letters are arranged in a x12 (across) by x10 (down) grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. The Harvest Festival words have been organised into four groups of four, clearly showing all hidden words below the word search. There are x21 words to find in total and nouns are illustrated on page 1. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards), vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (forwards and backwards). Words to find are; gather, give thanks (no space), hay, scarecrow, september, crow, coming, harvester, hoe, field, tractor, corn, grain, nuts, seeds, wheat, berry, courgette, fruit, peas and vegetables. Recommendations I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible (if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify). This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused. Important message… ANY issues with any of this resource please don’t hesitate to let me know - I am happy to make changes. Wordsearch Number names to twenty x3 versions

Wordsearch Number names to twenty x3 versions

(0)
What’s included? This download includes six pages (x6 A4 sheets, portrait orientation) featuring one word search for number names from ‘one’ to ‘twenty’ (page 1) and the answers - clearly showing where all words are hidden (page 2). The wordsearch letters are arranged in a x10 by x10 square grid and featuring easy to read size 25 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font. Who’s it for? This simple, clear resource has been carefully designed to encourage young readers especially pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Knowing these number names (words) is also an important part of maths in these year groups as questions and information often includes the number name as the written word (e.g. ‘three’) instead of the more easily recognisable numeral (e.g. ‘3’). Resource layout The twenty number name words have been organised into four groups of five, clearly showing all hidden number words in order up to twenty. There are x20 words to find in total. These words are hidden horizontally (forwards and backwards) vertically (up as well as down) and diagonally (up and down - both directions). Directional arrows on the answer sheet (page 2) make it clear exactly where to look if learners get stuck. The version of this word search which includes numerals is ideal for those learners either needing the additional support of having the numeral AND the number name shown together. For learners who would like an extra challenge, the numerals from 1 - 20 are all also hidden within the wordsearch. Once the learner has located each of these they could be circled on the wordsearch and ticked off in the box below. The numerals have been included in a variety of font styles to encourage learners to get used to recognising numerals written differently. On the colour/black and white versions of the word search there is a space in the four boxes (under the wordsearch where the hidden words are displayed) for learners to write the numerals next to the number names themselves. On all versions of this word search there is a space for learners to write their name (at the base of the sheet) and to record the number date (top, left). Recommendations I recommend that learners use a ‘highlighter’ style pen when finding the hidden words as highlighters enable all letters to remain visible once each word has been identified. Some letters have been used more than once (for different words) so all letters need to remain visible - if words are instead ‘crossed out’ this makes the letters harder to read and identify. This word search may be printed and laminated to be reused, or the black and white version is a good version for photocopying.
