What’s included? This pdf download includes x4 pages designed in landscape orientation featuring ten pairs of hands (each showing x10 fingers!) to practise counting up to 100 in 10’s. This resource has been designed in black and white for easy, clear printing. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in Y1 and Y2 as well as students needing additional learning support. This resource may be suitable for some pupils in Reception. Resource layout The simple lay out of pairs of hands, clearly showing ten fingers in each (blank) box is an easy to use (and re-use!) resource. Numbers can be written straight onto the sheet (and wiped off if laminated). Size 40 ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ font makes the numbers easy to read and the simple layout makes the process of counting in 10’s visually clear to young learners. Page 1 The first page has x10 boxes of ten sets of fingers with a large blank space under each image where the learner can write the correct 10’s number. This blank version can also be printed and the adult can write some of the 10’s numbers in, leaving gaps for the learner to write to remaining 10’s numbers in the complete the boxes. If given to a learner as it is (without any numbers written on) this page is the ‘most challenging’ sheet in this set. Page 2 The second page is the same design (x10 boxes of ten sets of fingers with a large blank space under each image where the learner can write the correct 10’s number). On this page the numbers ’10’, ’40’ and ‘100’ are included, leaving x7 number gaps for the learner to complete. With three completed numbers to help this is the ‘least challenging’ sheet in this set.

What’s included? This download includes one A4, landscape pdf sheet to practise ‘counting in 5’s’ from 0 to 50 (and back) using rainbow coloured circle shaped ‘beads’. Dotted guide line showing where to cut and punch a hole are included. The hole to punch is 5mm in size though a smaller hole punch could be used (to increase the fine motor skills challenge!) Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details The layout includes x6 rows and x9 columns of circular shaped beads each with a 5’s number from 0 - 50 (and back again). Beads are arranged in rainbow order to help guide and motivate learners in finding the next number (and colour) in the pattern. This is an ideal activity to keep learners busy and independent. What’s included? This download includes x1 sheet in portrait orientation to practise counting and matching tens and ones/units images with numeral labels for numbers up to 32. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. This resource has been designed give learners the opportunity to count tens and ones images (to 30) and match these with the correct numeral label by cutting and sticking (ten numbers) and writing the numerals for two - the last images on the left/right. Resource layout Learners write their name at the side (right), then cut out ten numeral labels at the base of the sheet (following along dotted lines) and label the images correctly - according to how many tens/ones are featured. The last two labels need to be written - a pencil indicates which two boxes to write in. Pale grey boxes indicate where to ‘stick’ the numeral label answers. What’s included? This download includes x8 sheets - x7 in landscape orientation and x1 in portrait orientation to practise counting out tens and ones to match numerals up to 69. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? Learners count out tens and ones (by cutting out tens/ones images) to match numerals from 2 up to 69. Resource layout Learners write their name at the base of each sheet. Each learner should also be given one tens/ones sheet to cut out what they need. The more sheets learners complete the more tens/ones they will need so spares of this sheet will be need to be available - close to hand. Learners look at the numeral in each box and count out (cut) the correct number of ones and tens to position (stick) in the box. Each sheet is numbered (1 - 7) the more sheets learners complete the larger the numerals on each sheet become. Target numbers you choose Page 2 has blank boxes for an adult to write numerals they would like to target for learners to practise. The size of the boxes on page 2 are quite small and suitable for ‘ones’ numbers (smaller than 10) - a ‘ten stick’ may fit here if placed horizontally but only with up to x7 ones. The numbers on sheet 7 could be covered up if adults wish learners to target specific numbers with tens and ones as there is more space in these boxes. What’s included? This download includes two A4, pdf sheets (portrait) to practise handwriting the days of the week (in order). Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource details Both versions included have clear starting dots as well as ‘tracing dots’ to follow for every letter. On one the learner writes onto a pale grey which shows each letter shape, on the other the learner writes onto a white letter with a clear grey outline defining each letter shape, encouraging/guiding learners to remain ‘within the lines’. The font used is Sassoon Infant Std - size 100. This activity has been designed to write straight on. Lines (under each day of the week) are included to model how letters look when positioned on a line. There is a clear space at the base of each sheet for learners to write their name and a space at the top (right) to record the number date (to help keep track of progress, over time if these completed activity sheets are kept). What’s included? This download includes x2 pages, portrait orientation, in pdf format. This resource features a large clock face with line indications of where the clock numbers should be placed (but not in which order). The numbers to 12 are positioned below the clock face - ready to cut out (with dotted lines to guide cutting). There is one extension question - which involves cutting out the ‘hour’ and ‘minute’ hands (at the top of page 2) and placing these on the completed clock face to show ‘3 o’clock’. The answers (the completed clock face) are displayed at the end of page 2 for learners to self-check how they got on. Clear, simple visual instructions of what to do are included on the sheet. Who’s it for? This ‘hours on a clock’ resource has been designed for early years and pupils in years one and two. This resource is also ideal for learners with additional learning needs. What’s included? This download includes nine A4, portrait pdf sheets which make a number matching set featuring x54 cards which includes all letters of the alphabet with an image to match. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource is to practise identifying the initial sounds for x26 images and matching these to the written letter/sound (grapheme). Both upper and lowercase letters are including - helping to reinforce both. How to use this resource This matching activity has been designed to be an activity for an individual or group where the square (cards) are already cut up (and hole punched!), shuffled and displayed either loosely on a table top/carpet or already attached on a ring. Learners look at each picture card and (if they are able) say what it is. Learners then say the initial sound for each picture and match the ‘picture’ card to the alphabet ‘letter’ card which shows the same initial sound. Once the set is matched into pairs (picture and letter cards together) learners can then order the card pairs from the beginning to the end of the alphabet or in reverse which can be much trickier! Pictures included are apple, banana, car, dog (Dachshund!), egg, frog, grass, house, ink, jam, key, lemon, milk, nine numbers, orange, pink pig, quarter, robot, sun, tree, upside-down umbrella, van, wall (not to be confused with ‘bricks’ !) xylophone, yellow yoyo, zebra. This alphabet matching set could be used as a reference resource for learners e.g. to cross-check the correct orientation of individual letters if unsure when writing. Games This ‘Alphabet Match’ set could also be used for a variety of games and to accompany and involve learners during rhymes and songs, usable both inside the classroom and outdoors (especially if laminated to improve durability in all types of weather!) Hide and seek match could make a fun game where one half of the set (e.g. all the picture cards or all the letter cards) are missing and learners need to find them and match them up. What’s included? This download includes x7 A4, portrait pdf 2D shape sheets featuring x36 matching cards. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resources is to name, count (the sides of) and match 2D shapes to the correct word label. There are x4 ‘answer cards’ included in the set which clearly list the pairs of shapes (pictures and names) on page 4. Learners could use these to help them match the cards or refer to them after they have completed the matching activity, encouraging autonomy. How to use this resource This matching activity has been designed to be an activity for an individual or group where the square (cards) are already cut up (and hole punched!), shuffled and displayed either loosely on a table top/carpet or already attached on the ring. Learners then look at each 2D shape image and (if they are able) name this. Learners can also count the number of sides of each shape and match the picture to the name label to complete the set. What’s included? This download includes seven A4, portrait pdf sheets which make a number matching set featuring x40 cards (Various vehicles to count and numerals/word number names from 1 to 20 to match). Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource is to practise counting up to 20 items (vehicles) and match the total number with the correct numeral/number name word label. How to use this resource This matching activity set has been designed to be an activity for an individual or group where the square (cards) are already cut up (and hole punched!), shuffled and displayed either loosely on a table top/carpet or already attached on the ring. Learners then look at each image card and count the number of vehicles before matching the picture to the numeral/number name card to complete the set. Once the set is matched into pairs learners can order the numeral and picture cards together to create a complete set from 1 to 20 or backwards depending on the focus. Once complete the cards can be threaded back together using the hole (top left of each card). The squares are designed to be joined together using a plastic clip/string or ribbon (using sticky Velcro would assist with easy opening). Once attached the numeral cards (like number fans) can be used in a variety of situations including on-the-carpet questioning with the whole class/smaller groups where pupils can show their answers instead of speaking. The cards could also be used as a reference resource for learners e.g. to help count and order numbers and/or cross-check the correct orientation of individual numbers if unsure when writing. What’s included? This download includes x22 pdfs, portrait in colour each featuring ten/five images that all begin with one sound for learners to match - the grapheme and the image with that initial sound. What’s it for? This resource is to enable learners to practise identifying the first (initial) sound (phoneme) of objects (images) and match these with the correct, matching letter (grapheme). Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support, revisiting any/all of these sounds. How to use it? An adult prints each sheet out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters’ from the ‘images’ (instructions are included on each sheet itself). These pieces (images and letters) can then be placed on a table top for learners to match - the image with the matching/correct initial letter sound as a two part mini jigsaw puzzle. Each letter only fits the images which have the same initial letter. Resource Details The images chosen all have a clear initial letter sound at the beginning but are not words which can easily be sounded out. The focus of this activity is purely to identify the initial letter sound for these images - the cross (top right of each image) indicates that these images are not to be sounded out. Letters of the alphabet together are grouped together as listed below - Red Set - letters a, e, i, o, u (letters e and o / i and u are together, x5 images each) Orange Set - letters b, d, g, p, q Yellow Set - letters c, f, k, s, t Green Set - letters h, l, m, n, r Blue Set - letters j, v, w, x, y, z (letters v and y / x and z are together, x5 images each) The font used is ‘Sassoon Infant Std’ - size 120, so a large, ‘easy to read’ size. The layout of every letter/sound in this set is in the same format, making this a predictable and structured activity, ideal to keep learners engaged and independent. This is a fun and engaging way to practise recognising these letters and identifying the correct initial letter (phonics) sound for ten (or five) images (per letter). What’s included? This download includes five A4, portrait pdf sheets to investigate ‘2D shapes and their properties’, presented as a ‘workbook’ for learners to complete through investigation. A sixth sheet has also been included as a set of tangible 2D shapes for learners to hold and investigate while completing this investigation. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children (to complete with support/as a group), pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource Details The six 2D shapes investigated in this workbook are a circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon and hexagon. Page 1 is the ‘workbook’ cover and includes a clear space for learners to write their name. There is related 2D shape information included on the cover for learners to read as well as a visual list of what learners will need to complete the workbook - to encourage autonomy. Pages 2 and 3 include six sets of questions (one set for each shape) all in the same layout. Learners are to complete this information so that the information becomes a set of clear, (accurate!) facts about each shape. Where learners do not know the information (to complete these questions) they can investigate each shape using the clear picture provided and count e.g. the number of sides of each shape and ‘circle’ the corners/vertices to complete the information. Additionally I have included a set of these 2D shapes to print out (onto card) and hold and use during this investigation. To complete these pages there are ‘2D shape names’ to cut out on page 4 (along the right hand side) which learners should be made aware of (dotted lines indicate where to cut). An adult could pre-cut these x6 shape names for those learners who struggle with using scissors/find cutting frustrating/demotivating. Pages 4 and 5 include the same information (as pages 1 and 2) completed in the same layout for learners to check their findings. There are also some ‘quick match’ questions at the very end of page 5 to recap what they have learnt. Page 6 a seperate set of these 2D shapes to print out onto card and (ideally) laminate to hold and use while completing this investigation. This is a simple, easy to play game to reinforce number bonds to 10 knowledge in a fun, easy way. Designed for Y1 and Y2, suitable for Reception aged children. This is a two player game so ideal for a parent and child or support assistant and individual child needing some extra help in remembering these number bonds. I have used this successfully online but have adapted it here so that it can be played at a table/desk…or on the floor! Everything needed to play this simple game is included in the pdf and the instructions are clearly printed on the game. Of course these can be adapted to suit each learner as long as it is fun and they are learning thats the key thing! What’s included? This download includes x6 sheets, landscape orientation, in colour to investigate the concept ‘half’ up to 20. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource has been designed to investigate which numbers (from 1 to 20) can be ‘halved’. There is a introduction to ‘half’ on page one and x20 recap questions at the end. Resource layout Page 1 This is an introductory page (not numbered) to explore ‘half’ is demonstrated step by step (horizontally) across the page. Pages 2 to 5 These pages enable learners to investigate each number from 1 to 20 (in order) to discover whether it can (or cannot!) be split equally into two. Starting at number 1 each box visually shows that number of pencils with two sheets of paper positioned below. Learners draw a line from one pencil to the left sheet of paper and the next pencil to the second (right) sheet of paper, continuing to do this (alternating drawing a line to the left/right sheet of paper each time, one pencil at a time) until there aren’t any more pencils available. Underneath the image of two 'sheets of paper’, the learners circle either the tiny image of ‘tick’ / ‘cross’ to indicate whether that number can be split in half (or not). Lastly for every question is a sentence e.g. ’Half of 2 is ___ ‘ for learners to complete. Learners write the missing number on the line to complete the sentence. Where a number (e.g. 1) cannot be split equally into half and therefore the sentence - ‘Half of 1 is ___ ‘ cannot be completed the learner can instead draw a line or cross in the space, e.g. ‘Half of 1 is ___’ OR ‘Half of 1 is X’. Learners then move onto investigating the next number. Page 4 At the end of page 4 there are two larger red/green boxes for learners to write the numbers (on the left/right) which cannot/can be split equally into half. Page 5 On page 5 there are x20 recap questions in the same order as the investigation (pages 2 to 4) and using the same colour boxes for each question. The colours should help guide learners back to the question they need to check their earlier findings should they need it. Recommendations I recommend that learners explore the concept of ‘halving numbers to 20’ practically before recording their learning. Physically using coloured matchsticks or lolly sticks and a sheet of A4 folded/with a line drawn down the centre is a simple way to begin! Small coloured matchsticks could be placed on top of the pencil images each time for a learner with good fine motor control. This resource has been designed to give learners an opportunity to explore more closely the position and relationship of numbers to 100 within a hundred number square. The first page is a ’board’ for the 100 number square jigsaw puzzle pieces to be positioned and then stuck on to. Once this has been completed learners can fill out the missing numbers at the base of this sheet. There is a clear space for learners to write their name at the base of the sheet and a space to record the number date (top, right). Learners will need a pair of scissors, a glue stick and a pencil to complete this activity. Page 2. This page clearly displays all twelve ‘jigsaw’ pieces for the 100 number square jigsaw puzzle. Learners are to cut around each shape - dotted lines guide where to cut and assemble these pieces on the large white square at the top, centre of page 1. Page 3. Answers, clearly displayed. The complete 100 number square is at the top, centre and the missing numbers (completed) at the base of the sheet. This has been designed for learners to access and cross-check themselves once they have completed the activity, encouraging autonomy. A set of x13 sheets, portrait orientation, colour pdf format. x6 colours (x2 sheets per learner) Colours include x2 red, x2 orange, x2 yellow, x2 green, x2 turquoise, x2 blue and one B&W ‘answers’ sheet. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. What’s it for? This resource has been designed to give learners an opportunity to explore more closely the position and relationship of numbers to 100 within a hundred number square. There is a 100 number square jigsaw puzzle to cut out (x12 pieces in total) and assemble and some ‘missing numbers’ to fill out, following on from completing the jigsaw puzzle. I have included x6 sets in different colliers to avoid learners getting their jigsaw pieces muddled up when cutting them out and assembling their jigsaw puzzles. How to use it?
