Full lesson on the role of the British Home Front during WWI. Lesson focuses on the contributions made to the British Front Line and how significant this was to the war effort. KS3 students use a variety of sources in order to make a judgement. Activities include students fulfilling the role of a British general during the war in order to build understanding. Stretch and Challenge questions offer additional support for G&T students. Learning Question - How did the Home Front contribute to the war effort in WWI? A scheme of work of around five hours worth of lesson content including written resources, source work and a presentation. Aimed toward KS3 students, this scheme of work introduces the concepts of colonialism and imperialism, assesses the factors involved, observes the interpretations, highlights the key roles of nations such as Britain and Germany and evaluates the impact on colonised countries. A concise introduction to the Cold War which begins with a source analysis of Churchill’s Iron Curtain Speech before assessing the human/political/economic and additional consequences of the Second World War. Students will then build their understanding of Cold War tension with the use of sources, maps and additional resources. A broad and comprehensive source task that breaks down how dictatorships are formed and structured through the lens of Nazi Germany. Designed for an IB MYP (Grade 8) class focusing on time, place and space, and power. Ideal for adaption to GCSE/IGCSE.

A research project that is designed to enable GCSE/A-Level students to use the HDI Index and HDR in order to analyse two countries of their choice and evaluate the differences of their development. Students are encouraged to use a variety of development indicators to make their comparisons and further research the factors that lead to the disparities. A lesson assessing the Weimar Republic’s transition from democracy to dictatorship covering the four problems faced by Hitler in 1933 and how he found a solution to each. Students will use a variety of sources to evaluate the effectiveness of Hitler’s decision making, as well as exam-style practice based on AQA’s Democracy & Dictatorship.
