This is a full lesson on how the Anglo-Saxons lived. Included is a discussion about what the settlement was like and how they lived. looks at what role each person had in the settlement and what the houses were like Also looks at the king and what happened in his house Includes 4 activities write an explanation of how the Anglo-Saxons got their food Write about what houses were built with Why did the Anglo-Saxons keep animals in their houses 4.Draw a write a detailed description of an Anglo-Saxon settlement

Discusses the types of paintings found at that time and where they were - in tombs and papyrus was used Gives a background about this. Goes into how the paintings had a profile and frontal view - has examples. Includes list of colours used and why they were used (what they represented) Looks at the symbols some of the gods, then has a variety of gods for the children to choose from for their drawings and the hieroglypihcs which need to be present in the picture Has an example of how to set out their sketch books as a practise of skills before they complete their painting. This would take either two lessons or one longer art session with the sketch book completed first and then their own picture created after either on brown paper or have another lesson creating their own papyrus to paint on.

This activity describes hieroglyphs and has the alphabet for the children to use. Explains who could read and write hieroglyphs and what they would record down. 3 activities create own name in hieroglyphs give three examples of why it was good to be a scribe at that time true or false using the text to support answers
