The America topic has been divided up into each decade with a timeline of key events and key statistics for each, as well as a separate one for Women’s liberation and Civil Rights. I use these for recap tasks where students complete what they know and use these to DIRT and improve their answer. I have also printed of a couple and laminated and key changed together for students to take home for revision purposes.

A lesson for GCSE AQA Health and the people SOW. The lesson gives an overview for medieval medicine. Students look at beliefs and treatments for diseases in the middle ages, as well as medical practitioners and how they observed medicine. Students complete a main task, recap activities, and an essay question. Lesson includes challenge tasks to stretch and challenge high ability and a writing frame for essay questions.

A lesson that looks at the reasons why Boudicca’s revolt failed. This can be used with the Horrible Histories Boudicca song. Students have to read through different sources and work out why Boudicca lost and begin to explain different reasons for failure. Students end with a GCSE styled question, there is a writing frame for lower ability students.

This lesson gets students to study how the Domesday Book helped William with controlling the country. Students read through an extract from the Domesday Book and Anglo-Saxon chronicle to work out the impact of the survey. Students have a worksheet to complete (there is a differentiated version). There is also a GCSE styled question with a writing frame to help weaker students.

This lesson looks at the role of women during the war, it looks at how the suffrage movement, middle class and working class women played a role. Students look at the reputation of King John and whether his legacy is justified they then look at the Baron’s reaction and the Magna carter and how this challenged the power of the crown. There is also a literacy focus as well, where students need to correct literacy mistakes.

Can be used as a homework task as well. Include in timeline are some more obscure events which I set in previous lessons to research. There is a blockbusters themed activity/revision game. This can be played as a teacher vs class activity or printed and laminated to be reused. There is also 30 individualized key word bingo sheets. This lesson is aimed at looking at how the monarchy’s power changed under Henry II. Students do a murder mystery activity looking at different sources about Thomas Becket’s murder and look at how the event challenged the power of the crown. This lesson works well after studying how William kept control. There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters for the less able. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end. Print off the evidence pack and either put it in an envelope or plastic wallet share them out between groups/tables. Make it a competition for students to work out the events of what happened.

This lesson forms part of a SOW on the Holocaust. The lesson looks at the steps taken by the Nazis to persecute Jews and Minorities. This lesson looks at the steps of dehumanisation and symbolisation. Students look at Nuremberg laws, kristallnacht, and other key events in Jewish persecution. The Lessons has challenge tasks to stretch and challenge to top end of the class, whilst key words, and sentence starters are provided for the students that need more support.
