Area and Perimeter of Rectilinear Figures

(0)
Year 4 programme of study- Measurement- measure and calculate the perimeter of a rectilinear figure (including squares) in centimetres and metres find the area of rectilinear shapes by counting squares This math resource could also be called finding the area and perimeter of irregular shapes, polygons or compound rectangles. All the figures are composed of 2 or 3 non-overlapping rectangles. This is a natural follow on from the worksheets of Area and Perimeter of Rectangles In each shape there will be one or more side that is unknown and students will have to find its value, either by counting in the case where the figures are on a grid, or calculating where lengths are given, in order to complete the area or perimeter calculation. To find the area, students must first break down the shape into rectangles, and by either counting squares, using the formula for area or perimeter of a rectangle, get to the final answer. There are 6 Sets of Differentiated Worksheets Sets 1 to 4 are made up of 2 non-overlapping rectangles Set 1: Introduction - Find the total area of the shapes shown on a grid, each shape divided into 2 rectangles. Set 2: Find the area and perimeter of the shapes shown on a grid. Students must now divide the shape into 2 rectangles and add them to find the area. Set 3: Find the area of rectangles with a rectangular space inside shown on a grid - subtract one from the other to find the shaded area. These are not overlapping rectangles but show a situation where instead of adding , areas must now be subtracted. Set 4: Find the area and perimeter. No grid. Measurements are given with one or two of them missing. Sets 5 & 6 are made up of 3 non-overlapping rectangles Set 5: Find the area and perimeter of the shapes shown on a grid. Students must now divide the shape into 3 rectangles and add them to find the total area. Set 6: Find the area and perimeter. No grid. Measurements are given with one or two of them missing. Students must now divide the shape into 3 rectangles and add them to find the total area. How many worksheets are there in total ? Lots and lots … at the click of a button the pictures are randomised, which allows you to create new worksheets at the same level for extra practice, revision etc. or even give individuals or groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions. No-Prep Worksheets These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require no extra work. Simply CLICK-PRINT AND GO. This makes them idea Answers are automatically generated every time you create a new worksheet. These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers.

Area and perimeter of rectangles

(0)
This comprehensive range of differentiated worksheets on calculating the area and perimeter of rectangles are organized into sets, each focusing on a specific strategy. Starting with the foundational “Area 1” set, students begin by counting squares to develop an intuitive understanding of area. As they progress, they’ll start to use the formula for area with & without the visual of rectangles divided into squares. “Perimeter” progresses from simple addition to the application of formulas with and without visual aids. The “Challenge Set” requires students to bring together their knowledge of area and perimeter, & the connection between multiplication and division as inverse operations to solve multi-step problems. Worksheet Sets Area 1 - Starting off with just counting squares Area 2 - Using the formula width x length with squares visible Area 3 - Extending Area 2 with larger rectangles - squares visible Area 4 - Using the formula of length x width with dimensions Area 5 - 2 rectangles simply connected with a common width apply the formula total area = width x length1 + width x length2 - squares visible Area 6 - 2 rectangles simply connected with a common width - apply the formula total area = width (length1 + length2) - squares visible Area 7 - 2 rectangles simply connected with a common side - squares not visible - dimensions of the sides given. Perimeter 1 - Find the perimeter by adding all the sides together - squares visible Perimeter 2 - Use the formula 2 x width + 2 x length - squares visible Perimeter 3 - Use the formula 2(width + length) - Squares visible Perimeter 4 - Dimensions given, squares not visible - dimensions given Challenge - 2 Step problems - Either the perimeter or area is given plus the length of one side. Given these clues student must find the length of the unknown side then from this the unknown area or perimeter choose metric or United States customary units How many worksheets are there in total ? Lots and lots … At the click of a button numbers are randomised, so the questions change every time which allows you to create new worksheets at the same level for extra practice or revision or even give groups of pupils in your class different sets of questions again all at the same level. These are straightforward no-prep worksheets that require no extra work. Simply CLICK-PRINT AND GO ideal to have printed and ready for a replacement teacher if needed. Matching Number to Quantity for Kindergarten

(0)
An awareness of the relationship between number and quantity is essential for long term success with math and begins here in Kindergarten. Matching numbers and quantities of objects, counting on & finding ‘one more’ are covered here with Worksheets and Digit Teaching Resources. Worksheet Sets Set 1: Matching Quantity to a Number Given numbers from 1 to 10, pupils color in the appropriate number of objects (Hedgehogs). At the same time, they write in the numbers as they color, counting as they go along, connecting quantity, numbers and cardinality. Set 2: One More … Given a set of objects from 1 to 10, pupils have to write down the number that matches. There is space to write in the numbers as they count forward from 1. They are then asked to write down the number that is ‘one more’ than the number of objects shown. The pupils are learning to ‘count on’ without the visual aid of an additional object. Set 3: Matching Quantity to a Number up to 20 Pupils are given a quantity of objects and they must choose the correct answer from 3 numbers shown. This Set of Worksheets has 3 levels: -1 to 10 objects in each question -1 to 20 objects in each question -10 to 20 objects in each question How many Worksheets are in each set ? Lots and lots. There are 8 questions on a Worksheet. At the click of a button the numbers and their position on the Worksheets randomly change, so you can create lots of different pages for your pupils to practice with. Answers are automatically generated every time. Ratio of two quantities

(0)
Year 6 programme of study: Ratio and proportion: Solve problems involving the relative sizes of two quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts This resource introduces the concept of ratio, starting with sharing a given quantity using the visual support of tape diagrams (also called the bar model), then moving on to word based problems. Worksheets with visual support Tape diagrams (or bar models) allow students to see the relationships between quantities in a simple graphical format. This visual aid helps students understand the structure of the problem and the relationships between the parts to be shared and how the relationships between quantities change when the ratio changes. They also help to develop a systematic approach to solving ratio problems. Worksheet Sets 1 to 3 The initial quantity and the ratio for sharing are given. Students must find the value of one unit of sharing, color in the tape diagram accordingly, then find the size of each sharedpart of the original quantity. You have a choice of 3 ranges of numbers: Level 1: Under 100 Level 2: to 1000 in multiples of 10 Level 3: to 1000 This gives you the choice of starting with small numbers and focusing on the ratio calculations, then later use the worksheets with larger numbers to bring in extra practice with the 4 operations. Worksheet Sets 4 to 6 A further set of challenging Worksheets with the visual aid contain questions giving the ratio & one of the final answers with the aim to find the initial quantity. As with Worksheets Sets 1-3 you have a choice of 3 ranges of numbers to work with. Worksheet Sets 7 to 9 These have a mix of the formats from Sets 1 to 3 and 4 to 6, with the 3 ranges of numbers, and the additional task of determining the width of the tape diagrams before coloring them in according to the ratio of the parts. Word Problems on Ratio Worksheet Sets The two Sets contain a mix of questions including sharing a given quantity; given a share and the ratio, find the original quantity etc as outlined above, (but now without the visual support), plus finding the ratio of two quantities in their simplest form (equivalence of ratios). The quantities in Set 1 are 1 & 2-Digit numbers, whilst in Set 2 range quantities are 2 & 3-Digit numbers. How many worksheets are there in total ? Virtually unlimited … There are 8 Sets, BUT, at the click of a button numbers are randomised, so the questions change which allows you to create new worksheets at the any level for extra practice or revision throughout the year or even give groups of pupils within your class different sets of questions. Answers are automatically generated every time. Note These resources work with the official Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac computers. Decimal Multiplication - Placing the Decimal Point

(0)
This math resource is designed for pupils to practice placing the decimal point when multiplying two decimal numbers and is good preparation for the work of “Multiplying Decimals with the Standard Algorithm.” You will have 5 levels of Worksheets for pupils to practice whatever method you have taught them with the questions set out horizontally AND vertically. In the first 4 sets of worksheets, the questions are presented in such a way that pupils can see the progression from the multiplier being a whole number, then 10ths, then 100ths. The idea behind this is that at the same time learning the method for placing the decimal point they get the opportunity to see any patterns that might emerge in the numbers produced. Set 1 - Multiplicand - Units 5 x 3 5 x 0.3 5 x 0.03 Set 2 - Multiplicand - Tens 20 x 6 20 x 0.6 20 x 0.06 Set 3 - Multiplicand - Tenths 0.7 x 9 0.7 x 0.9 0.7 x 0.09 Set 4 - Multiplicand - Hundredths 0.07 x 6 0.07 x 0.6 0.07 x 0.06 Set 5 is more of a challenge. Questions are laid out in a random order, so for example one question may be: 0.7 x 0.05 7 x 0.5 0.005 x 5 How many worksheets are in each set ? (almost) Unlimited. At the click of a button all numbers are randomised, so you can create as many different worksheets as you need for classwork, homework, revision, preparing for assessment, fillers etc and the numbers will change every time.
