Edexcel CC11a Reactivity. This powerpoint and differentiated worksheet looks at how we arrange metals in a reactivity series based upon reactions with water, acid and oxygen. It looks at displacement reactions and guides students to writing REDOX equations.

Edexcel CC4c Electronic configuations. This presentation explores the how to work out the configuration of an element and how it is related to its position in Periodic Table.

This needs laminating back to back and hole punching at one end. It then present s the students with a simple flip book that shows all the key higher order thinking ( HOT) words linked to Blooms for students to challenge themselves and understand how to get to the next level in their work. I put a few on each table each lesson so that students got used to using them.

Edexcel CC5a Ionic Bonds. This presentation usually takes about 3 or 4 lessons depending upon how quickly the students grasp the concept. It is worth spending time ensuring full comprehension as this is one of the fundamentals in chemistry. It starts by looking at how ions form, then moves onto drawing ions and ionic bonding diagrams ( dot and cross diagrams) Finally it ends by looking at charges on ions and how they link to the position in the Periodic Table. 3 differentiated worksheets are also included with this bundle.

This is the fifth lesson in a series of 6 lessons to introduce year 7 to Science. This lesson is titled ‘Investigations’ and allows students to undertake an investigation early in the year. I have included an investiagtion title page for Y7,8,9,10 and 11 ( please look in the notes section at the bottom of the powerpoint to find out which is most suitable) . I have not included many details of the investigations as the point is for the students to do this for themselves. This may take 2 lessons depending upon the ability of the students in the class. The presentation should be self explanatory . The next lesson is ‘Drawing graphs’

An introduction to basic quantitative analysis including making standard solutions, titrations and using titration results in calculations. The presentation can be used as a stand alone lesson when revising or used in conjunction with the booklet when teaching this topic.

This is a stand alone presentation I use for after school revision throughout the year to show students how to approach calculations involving moles. The slides can be adapted or quantities changed each week so that students practice new problems each time.

A lesson on Global Warming for year 8. Also included is the student mat and placemat. This was designed for an interview lesson to reduce the need for using books. It was rated as an outstanding lesson.

This is the third lesson in a series of 6 lessons to introduce year 7 to Science. This lesson is titled ‘Using the Bunsen Burner’ and names the different parts of the Bunsen Burner, Shows students how to safely use the Bunsen Burner and the difference between the safety flame and the heating flame. The presentation is self explanatory and there is a story card that i laminate to hand out as part of the lesson. The next lesson is ‘Visiting variables’

Edexcel CC6a Chemistry Covalent Bonding. This is a complete lesson on covalent bonding showing learners how to draw covalent bonding diagrams using the dot and cross method. It also includes a worksheet to practice this.

Edexcel CC7a Molecular Compounds. This presentation explores properties of simple molecular compounds and explores polymers, their properties and how to name and draw them.

This is a powerpoint I use at the start of year 8 to familiarise students with some of the maths skills they will need including rounding with decimal places, rounding with significant figures and using standard form. This sits nicely with my other year 8 powerpoint about the scientific method and results and graphs.
