Add these sight words game activities to your independent reading centres. Excellent for building word recognition and vocabulary building. This comprehensive pack contains all the sight words from Magenta to Green in the New Zealand Ready to Read texts. In total there are 10 colour-coded game sets, with each set grouped by colour level. Just print off and use the sets you need. Included in the resource is a word bank of the words used in each set. There are also blank cards should you want to create customised sets. I hope you find this resource of great use and value. Word recognition games have always been the biggest hit when I have taught in junior classes.

An activity sheet that combines the maths concepts of position and direction within a New Zealand ANZAC unit study (with a focus on World War 1 battles). Students work on locating New Zealand battle locations in World War 1 using longitude and latitude. Students will require access to an atlas or (more preferably) an online map app, such as Google Maps. Students are provided with the recording sheet and an information card that contains information on three battles New Zealand was involved in, the dates of the battles and the country. Please note - they are not in order on the card! Using the information cards and the coordinates on the recording sheet students then work out which battle took place in which country and when. Includes; recording sheet, information cards, teacher instructions and answer sheet.

The images are; Jack’o’Lantern, evil face, bat, pumpkin, candle, skull, candy and ghost. Students will devour these and be wanting more! By then they will have a beginning understanding of the binary number system. Binary numbers are an essential part of understanding how computing works. Understanding binary numbers is not only learning within the digital curriculum and helping students become 21st Century learners, but they are also a core element of maths knowledge and learning about different counting systems. This is a resource to introduce young students to the world of coding. Coding is an essential skill in the digital curriculum for 21st Century learners. Coding is the ability to create instructions that allow a set of actions to be carried out. This resource gives an opportunity to expose pre-school (and early elementary) students to the world of coding with the format used in the user friendly coding app Scratch Jr. The resource doesn’t require a device or access to the internet. Students can cut and past the missing pieces of code into a blank box sequence to achieve the desired outcome on the worksheet. There are two ways this resource can be used; As a cut and paste worksheet. There are 4 different Thanksgiving themed coding worksheets, with answers. As a reusable independent learning centre activity. There are 4 activity cards and a set of ‘coding blocks’ to cut out and laminate. These can all be kept in a tray or container and the students can then take the activity and work with it. Students work with the concept of a half and a quarter and cut and paste representations of each. Fractions of Whole Shapes for Juniors A brilliant resource for supporting, consolidating and assessing a student’s understanding of halves and quarters. Fractions for Juniors - Thirds A hands on activity for 1st and 2nd grade students. Students work with the concept of a third and cut and paste representations of a third. Students place and glue half and quarter shapes to fill whole shape on a recording sheet. In this resource are two recording sheets (one with guidelines and one without) and 4 sheets of cut out shapes. These 4 offer different levels of difficulty from simple halves only, to mixed sheets of halves and quarters, and finally a sheet of quarters only. Grouping Fractions - Halves, Quarters and Thirds An excellent resource to check understanding of basic the fractions Half, Quarter and Third. The resource is best used after students have been learning about and working with each of the three fractions. This is a hands-on cut and paste activity where junior students can practice and demonstrate their understanding of these three fractions.

The challenge here is working out the digits under the splotches to make the equation correct. When I printed these off at home to proof-read before I knew it my own children were sitting at the kitchen table working them out. This is a set of numeral cards on colorful present images. They were initially created by me for advent activities, but they have extensive uses as a math resource in the classroom. This resource includes a set of numeral cards and also a set of clipart images of the cards that can be used to create your own resources. You may already have an excellent range of uses for this set of numeral cards. Below are a number of suggested uses of these numeral cards. · Say the numbers · Talk about the numbers · Counting up · Counting down · Order the numbers · Create number sequences with gaps to fill · Match numerals to groups of objects · Comparing numbers · Notice patterns · Create an advent calendar · Guess the mystery number game This resource doubles as a clipart set for teachers and resource creators.
