I like to use online Scavenger Hunts to check a range of skills; reading and comprehension, finding information online and recording. This one is for British Wildlife and includes answers.

After looking at what an onomatopoeia was I got the students to sort the words to see if they had understood.

We used this with the Home Alone story book and cut up the different parts and put the story into the correct order.

This worksheet has stills from the Literacy Shed film 'The Planets'. There is a space next to each still for students to record their thoughts. I used the sheet for them to record descriptive words for each planet that they could use in a piece of descriptive writing.
