I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. They are fully resourced RE or Citizenship lessons, worksheets or 15 minute assemblies/tutor time PSHE sessions suitable for 11-18 and some can also be used for younger audiences.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about positive language. It covers the important topic of being positive, watching what language we use to communicate to others and using positive language online. It was used as an assembly for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12). It covers: Why it is so important to show positive language in school The power of words Important quotes and two downloaded videos that will never disappear How we can show positive language What situations we need to show positive language How we can support cyberbullying Code of conduct Reflection slide with thinking questions and positive quotes There is a slide for you to add your Pupil Code of Conduct or behaviour policy or you can delete this slide if you prefer. The session is all narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide. This fits into the new RSE & Health Curriculum, PSHE & Citizenship, tutor time, whole school activity or a whole school assembly with links to SMSC, Character Education and Fundamental British Values. This is a 10-15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE or Safeguarding session which is fully narrated and designed for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It outlines: What peer on peer abuse / child to child abuse is Why stopping it is so important How students can access help and support The 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act How peer on peer / child to child abuse affects someone Signs of a negative relationship Pupil code of conduct How pupils can show positivity at school and form positive relationships Definition of peer pressure and the need to create an equal community There are discussion questions and quotes to aid discussion and these can be turned into written activities if you want to make this session last a whole lesson. There are two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and it is narrated although you can delete this by just deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer. This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly, PSHE or tutor time session covering what the Prevent strategy is. It includes some videos and discussion points around Prevent and information about how to spot signs of radicalisation. This was originally delivered to KS3 and KS4 but could also be suitable for KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). There are no written tasks in this presentation, it is an overview of these topics in line with the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum, SMSC and Fundamental British Values. It could also be used in an assembly or whole school setting as a quick reminder of Prevent and Radicalisation. It can be lengthened or shortened depending on the timing of the session. The videos are downloaded so will never disappear. Students reacted well to this session and some important and interesting discussions were had.

This is a fully resourced lesson about how Martin Luther King’s Christian beliefs influenced his actions. It has an excellent starter sheet, carousel activity, discussion tasks, written tasks and an interactive plenary. It goes through the influence of the Bible, group prayer, being a pastor, non-violent protest & Jesus. It includes information on Civil Rights but its focus is on Martin Luther King’s Christian faith. This pack includes everything you need for this lesson which has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted and included in a Summary report for a secondary school. It has a full lesson plan, differentiated questions, a powerpoint, worksheets and an interactive powerpoint plenary. This plenary can also be adapted and used for other lessons. Buy this and have one lesson for Ofsted totally planned and resourced for you. This lesson is suitable for KS2, KS3 or KS4 (Ages 7-16). It was originally a 60 minute year 8 lesson but can easily last 90 minutes or it can be shortened if needed.

This is a powerpoint and worksheet to teach KS3 and KS4 about the Gurdwara in Sikhism. It was originally a 90 minute lesson but can be easily completed in 60 minutes or adapted slightly for shorter lessons. This is a PowerPoint with different moral questions to make students think. For example, “if you borrow a million pounds are you a millionaire?”, “Can you get lost if you don’t know where you are going.” These are great discussion questions for assemblies, debates or citizenship/PSHE/SMSC provision. They will improve communication skills in tutor time sessions or as starters to lessons. They are appropriate for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (11-18 years old).

This is suitable for upper KS3-KS5 (Years 9-13, Ages 13-18) and fits well into the new RSE & Health curriculum, the PSHE & Citizenship curriculum as well as the Keeping children Safe in Education Safesguarding document. This is a 15-20 minute assembly on the role of an MP. It has some specific information about Birmingham but this can easily be adapted to include your own MP by following the website and instructions in the Notes section. This was originally a Year 10 Citizenship tutor time session but could easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. It covers the definition of an MP, their role and tasks, the importance of democracy, the structure of parliament, what issues young people may be struggling with today and an introduction to ‘Make Your Mark 2022’ with the Youth Parliament. Students reacted very well to this presentation. It fits into the PSHE or Citizenship curriculums or can be used for a KS3, KS4 or KS5 (Ages 11-18 Years 7-13) assembly or whole school session on Fundamental British Values.

This is a 60-90 minute lesson about social action. It is in an RE & Citizenship scheme of work exploring different ways people help the community. It focuses on Christianity and the work of food banks and street pastors. This session can also help towards the AQA Religious Studies A GCSE in the Christian Practices paper but does not have any specific exam focus. It includes: Picture Analysis of a food bank The Parable of the Sheep & Goats Teachings of the Parable of the Sheep & Goats An introduction to street pastors 2 video clips about street pastors (downloaded so they will never disappear) An introduction to food banks 2 videos about food banks (downloaded so they will never disappear) An activity to design their own organisation combining street pastors and food banks True and false quiz for a plenary task Extension tasks with a discussion and extra video links This lesson is fully narrated although this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated. This session can easily be lengthened or shortened to last for a shorter or longer amount of time. Students reacted very well to this presentation. There are also lessons on Sewa, Hillsborough and the Birmingham Six in this Social Action unit.
