I wrote this resource to complement the AQA French Oxford coursebook but it could be used in conjunction with other GCSE coursebooks. It is based on the theme of ‘Ma famille et mes amis’ and comprises 5 well differentiated translation worksheets. Each worksheet begins with vocabulary practice followed by revision of key grammar (adjectival agreement, comparative and superlative adjectives, reflexive verbs in the present tense and negatives) and ends with a short text to translate from memory into French. The powerpoint provides the answers to the 5 translation tasks. This resource would ideally be used after ‘Ma famille et mes amis (part 1)’ which gives a more in-depth treatment of grammatical points. However, for more able students, it could be used on its own.

The 4 powerpoints include most of the worksheet exercises with answers, making it possible for you to demonstrate grammatical points, discuss pronunciation and mark work in class with your students.

A nice powerpoint to demonstrate and practise direct object pronouns with your students. I do this grammar point when covering the theme ‘Relationships with family and friends: Ma famille et mes amis’. There is a worksheet for students to write their answers to slides 4 and 5.

This 11 page resource is based on pp. 10/11 of Studio AQA GCSE French Foundation, A comme amitié. It is well differentiated and will help your students acquire the vocabulary and grammar to describe what makes a good friend: C’est quoi un bon ami, pour toi? The resource includes exercises to practise: adjectives and adjectival agreement infinitives and regular ER verbs in the present tense forming questions possessive adjectives expressing opinions emphatic pronouns speaking tasks at Foundation and Higher levels (I say, you say) reading comprehension tasks well scaffolded translation tasks from and into French at sentence and text level There is also a reply to the question, ‘C’est quoi un bon ami?’ which students can read and adapt for their own purpose. A crossword puzzle with clues in French provides extra reading comprehension practice. Most of the worksheets are also on ppt., making it easier for you to demonstrate grammar, sentence structure and pronunciation to your students. This resource is particularly suitable for students of average to higher ability.

AQA; Theme 2 - 8.1 - Holidays and Travel Students read an account of a holiday in Paris and complete a range of tasks which will help them remember the key vocabulary, verbs and structures to write their own account of a past holiday. There is a ‘nous’ and an ‘on’ version for each set of tasks. Ideal for helping your GCSE students prepare for their writing exam and the translation task into and from French.

This resource is based on p.10 of Studio AQA GCSE French Foundation, A comme amitié. It comprises 3 worksheets where students can practise regular ER verbs in the present tense, translate from and into French and acquire the key vocabulary to help them describe what they do with their friends. The ppts. have the answers to the relevant worksheet exercises which is ideal for demonstrating grammar points or pronunciation to your class. There is also a crossword puzzle to practise regular ER verbs in the present tense with answers. This resource is particularly suitable for students of average ability but would also help higher ability students consolidate their learning.

This resource comprises 3 differentiated worksheets which will help your average to low ability students use the perfect tense of regular ER verbs in the singular and practise adjectives, intensifiers and sequencing words. I use them in class or set them as homework.

This resource comprises 4 well differentiated worksheets and 1 vocabulary table which go with Studio 1, Module 3, pp. 50, 51, Mon ordi et mon portable. I use them in class or set them as homeworks. They will help your students practise, learn and consolidate the vocabulary and verbs needed to talk about how they use computers and mobiles.

I decided to use the transcript of AQA GCSE French Foundation Tier Paper 1 Listening (May 2018) to create this reading paper. I plan to give the reading paper to my GCSE students early in the year and then set the listening paper on which it is based a few months later. I have made very slight changes to the transcript. I wonder if this will help improve their listening skills. I suppose it is worth a try. The 6 page paper can be copied double sided onto 3 pages to save on photocopying. It is out of 60 marks like the actual GCSE Foundation Tier Reading Paper. The paper also appears on ppt. so that you can discuss the answers with your students.

This resource reinforces the grammar (partitive article, regular ER and IR present tense verbs, forming questions) and key vocabulary (food) on pp. 36, 37 of Studio 1, Module 2, Miam-miam! There are 4 worksheets and 4 ppts. which comprise some of the worksheet tasks, making it easier for you to introduce the grammar and vocabulary to your classes.

It includes true or false and gap fill exercises, translation tasks, vocabulary learning practice, a crossword puzzle with clues in French and a task which requires writing from memory.

The well differentiated worksheets in this resource have been designed to reinforce pp.32 and 33 of Studio 1, Module 2. They will give your students plenty of practice describing their school timetable and using the 12 hour clock. There is also a translation task which challenges students to guess meaning from context and translation tasks into French are well scaffolded. This resource is great to use in class or to set as homework. A ppt. will help you introduce telling the time.

In addition, practise the irregular verb IR and a range of common time expressions. Finally, put your knowledge to the test to see if you can distinguish between Past, Present and Future tenses. They include strategies for learning key vocabulary, gap fill exercises to improve reading skills, word order exercises and supported translation tasks into and from French. The puzzle sheet is great for reinforcing key vocabulary. A ppt. includes some of the exercises which appear on the worksheets so you can discuss answers with your class. There is also a ppt. to help you introduce key vocabulary to your students.

This resource comprises 3 worksheets based on pp. 28, 29 of Studio Book 1. The worksheets are great to help your students practise using opinions and school subjects. In addition, there is a vocabulary table and a vocabulary test for students to test themselves on the key vocabulary in this unit. There is also 1 ppt. with some of the exercises from each of the 3 worksheets to enable you to introduce key vocabulary and go over work with your students.
