Children will enjoy learning about the character Little Seed, a persistent but impatient seed who wants to see the big things in life. He decides he can no longer wait and sets off on an adventure. Along the way he meets some helpful friends who teach him about the places they love to be.
A printable original story and presentation to share in class. The story would be a lovely introduction to a new topic on types of trees and link perfectly within a topic on plants and growth. Also great to be used in an assembly to either share or perform and could be turned into a play by including the songs.
**Please note this is a print your own digital version with educational activity.
To purchase your own copy of the book it is available on amazon.
The story explores ideas of self discovery and belonging.
Extra resources include seed germination idea and song on my youtube channel Classberry.
I was lucky to be able to develop this story project through my school and raise money for our school charity. The sale of the physical book on amazon raises money for Street Child United. NOTES FOR TEACHERS
8 stages of writing progress that tracks written skills in fiction, including phonics, vocabulary, grammar, composition, handwriting and punctuation. It can be used to track progress for children learning English as a foreign language or with some small adjustments for all pupils in KS1. A bank of skills which can also be used as targets for the next steps in their learning. Written after the end of National Curriculum levels to form part of our new progress and assessment in school.
We decided to focus on tracking fiction as non-fiction wasn’t able to reflect the range of skills we felt we needed to track.
If you would like the second part of this progression tracker you can find the KS2 development over on TES shop ClassGems.
This learning chart is to help the pupils identify whether they are learning a new fact, skill or developing their understanding at the start of a new topic/lesson. It can be edited and added to as the topic progresses.
Actions could be given to help children remember the learning , such as thumbs up for knowledge, building block hands for skills and tapping the head for understanding.
The chart is to be used during the teacher input and enlarged to be displayed throughout the topic. Objectives from the topic can be added and used as a reference for assessment.
Included
A power point blank grid to edit
An example from the circus topic
I never get bored of telling this story to children, I just love the way they enjoy the naughty seagulls stealing his lunch. It's also one of my favourite displays to create with blues of the sea and contrast of the Lighthouse. There's so many literacy opportunities- speech bubbles, instructional writing, descriptive writing, the list goes on... The video was created for our Spanish students to give them an opportunity to listen to English over the summer holidays, however it can also be used as a starter for your class to create their own 'surprise' sandwich...
My favourite food worksheet included.
