This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in Frankenstein. They each display quotes that would be useful to revise for the GCSE English Literature exam. This poster is of Victor’s father, Alphonse Frankenstein.
Printed in A4 they are ideal for regular classroom use, while A3 produces a good wall display. You could also create individual revision booklets by reproducing these posters in A5.
The posters can be used in a number of different ways. I often ask students to link each of the quotes or comments to a theme and then to explain why that quote is significant. You could also blank out some of the text and ask students to fill in the blanks. The posters can also serve as inspiration for students to make their own, based on other characters and/or other texts.
Victor Frankenstein, The Creature, Elizabeth Lavenza, Robert Walton, Henry Clerval, and Justine Moritz are all currently available, while Caroline and the DeLacey family are coming soon. Once they are completed I will make a bundle available so that you can save some money.
Please take a look at my shop to see the other texts for which I have posters:
An Inspector Calls;
Blood Brothers;
Romeo and Juliet;
Macbeth;
Twelfth Night;
Pigeon English;
Animal Farm;
A Christmas Carol;
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Please get in touch if there is a series of characters and quotes which you would like me to make. As long as it will sell on here, I am happy to put the time in to making them.
This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in Pigeon English. They each display quotes and comments that would be useful to revise for the GCSE exam. This poster is of X-Fire.
A5 prints make for really good individual student booklets, while producing A4 versions is ideal for general class use. if you’re wanting to display them, they look really good in A3.
As well as display, they can be given as a task for students to build on the quotes, linking each one to specific themes in the novel and/or explaining why the trait of the character is significant. Another common use is to inspire students to make their own posters for other characters.
Other characters currently available are Harrison, Lydia, Miquita and Mamma. coming soon are Julius, the Dead Boy, Auntie Sonia, Dean, Jordan and the Pigeon.
Once they are all completed, I will be making them available as a bundle.
Please note, I also sell similar posters for An Inspector Calls; Romeo & Juliet; Macbeth; Blood Brothers; A Christmas Carol; Frankenstein; The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde. All can be found in my shop - just click on my picture or on the name ‘wez cartoons’.
This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in Animal Farm. They each display quotes and comments that would be useful to revise for the GCSE exam. This poster is of Mr Jones. Included in the picture is a portrait on the wall depicting Tsar Nicholas II, reminding students of the real-life person represented by Mr Jones in Orwell’s allegory. All posters in this series include similar memory boosters in the image.

This is a Powerpoint presentation on two poems, encouraging practice in analysing unseen poetry for GCSE. I used it with a top set Y9 group who were interested in the general election. It won't work with everyone, and it does require some understanding of the context. The emphasis is on commenting on Theme, Language, Form and Tone and comparing these four sections.
The mnemonic used is Turn Left For Tanhouse, because of the local area, but this can easily be changed to 'Town' for more general use.
Also included are two Word documents with the poems on, which can serve as handouts for the students to annotate.
I created this for the revision of Frankenstein at GCSE level. This is a multiple round team quiz. It can be given to individuals but it works better with teams because it encourages them to discuss the myriad of potential answers.
Each slide has the answers in its notes. Some rounds (such as the picture and music ones) have answers which are not so definitive. If a student gives a different answer and can justify why they have chosen it, allow them the point, as this is where the revision is happening.
I tend to do a round and then ask them to swap papers for marking. This means you can keep a running total for each team and make it more competitive.
For the music round, I access Youtube. If your school does not allow you access, I recommend downloading the tracks and making a playlist on your phone or laptop.
The objects round is optional. Prior to the quiz lesson, you can set a homework task - students must choose an object that symbolises one of the characters and be prepared to give their reasons why. If they do the task well and there is a decent range of different characters, it will work as a round. Alternatively, they could be like my class where every single member 'forgot' to do their homework...
I have a similar quiz for Romeo and Juliet, so please look at my other resources.

This is from a series of posters I made for revision of the characters in Romeo and Juliet. They each display quotes that would be useful to revise for the GCSE exam. This one is of Juliet’s father, Lord Capulet.
I printed some out in A4 for my students but they look pretty good in A3 as eye-catching wall displays.
I will be uploading Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Benvolio, Nurse, Friar Lawrence, Paris and Lady Capulet so please look for those if you wish to have the complete set.
Other sets available or coming soon: Frankenstein; Blood Brothers; An Inspector Calls; Macbeth.

While Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth are some of my best sellers, they were, surprisingly, the only Shakespeare bundles in my shop. But not for long! This year I have completed my series of Twelfth Night characters, with eight posters available in total.
For display, these print well as A3, while A4 are ideal for general class use. Students could be asked to expand on each quote, linking it to given themes in the play, or to say why that quote or trait is significant. The posters also serve as inspiration for students to create their own for other characters. If printed in A5, the full series of posters can make up a handy little revision guide for individual students.
Sir Toby Belch is also currently available, along with Sebastian, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Viola, Malvolio, Antonio, and Orsino.
Please note that I’m having issues with pdfs not uploading properly. If your pdf does not open properly, you can email me at wezcartoons@gmail.com and I will send the file direct to you.
Please take a look at my shop by clicking on my name or picture. You will see similar posters for a wide range of texts. Bundles and/or individual posters are available for the following:
An Inspector Calls
A Christmas Carol
Macbeth
Romeo and Juliet
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Frankenstein (more characters coming soon)
Pigeon English
Blood Brothers
Animal Farm
Lesson based around designing a video game for Coraline, improving on the existing game. Deals with audience and purpose, as well as colour connotations.
This was aimed at able Y9s, but would suit a wide range of pupil abilities. The PowerPoint features the images required for the starter. Pupils were reading 'Al Capone Does My Shirts' at the time.
Fourth lesson (no Ppt this time - apostrophe starter used a copyrighted Ppt, so can't include...sorry).
Will include more lessons once I've planned them!
Complete set of ready to use lesson resources introducing Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Perfect for SEN and EAL students.
Low ability Y10s. Second lesson intended to introduce the pupils to the Philip Pullman playscript. Leads to the essay question 'Who is the Real Monster in Frankenstein?' as posted by another TES member. Some slides from this Ppt have been adapted from existing TES resources.
This was initially delivered to a middle ability Y10 class who had studied Romeo and Juliet as part of their Literature course. You don't have to have done Romeo and Juliet, but my using the picture of Juliet in the crypt meant that it served as a little revision exercise too. Similarly, the lesson makes reference to a piece of descriptive writing the class had completed on Frankenstein - you can easily alter this to refer back to something you have done.
The lesson refers specifically to assessment objectives and encourages variety in vocabulary choices and sentence openings.
It was supposed to be for a 75 minute lesson but I found it could easily cover two one hour lessons.
Please take a look at some of my other resources - I tend to put lesson plans on as free downloads and my quizzes and posters at low prices.
If you download anything I'd be grateful if you could leave a review.
