KS3 or Upper KS2 resources to plan a Les Émotions et Les Sentiments / Feelings in French unit. This BUNDLE contains a 107-slide interactive presentation (with key phrases, teaching points, translations tasks, comprehension activities, interactive review games), flashcards, worksheets, puzzles, fun printable games and activities, to introduce and review 30 possible answers to “Comment te sens-tu?” (“How are you feeling?” / “How do you feel?”), mostly using être (with an adjective - masculine and feminine versions are covered) or avoir. Includes negative and positive emotions and conditions such as being cold, hot, hungry and thirsty. Students are taught to express in French how themselves and others are feeling and how to give reasons for emotions and feelings. There’s enough for multiple lessons to teach and practise phrases and sentences through speaking, reading and writing activities, and there’s differentiation too. Please check the previews to see a large sample of the resources. All resources are in PDF, apart from the presentation, which is PowerPoint (but it is also included in PDF).
My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in:
Upper Primary (Key Stage 2 KS2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6)
Secondary (Key Stage 3 KS3) - especially Year 7 and 8 (Y7 / Y8)
Equivalents such as Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Core French in Canada
May suit others, depending on experience
INCLUDES 3 RESOURCES, which can be purchased separately if you prefer:
French Emotions and Feelings Presentation and Flashcards
French Emotions and Feelings Worksheets and Puzzles

The following phrases are featured in this unit: je suis en colère, je suis agacé / agacée, je suis étonné / étonnée, je m’ennuie, je suis calme, j’ai froid, je suis confiant / confiante, je suis confus / confuse, je suis déçu / déçue, je suis gêné / gênée, je suis enthousiaste, je suis frustré / frustrée, je suis furieux / furieuse, je suis heureux / heureuse, j’ai chaud, j’ai faim, je suis malade, je suis jaloux / jalouse, je me sens seule, je suis nerveux / nerveuse, je suis fier / fière, je suis triste, j’ai peur, je suis timide, j’ai mal, je suis surpris / surprise, j’ai soif, je suis fatigué / fatiguée, je suis contrarié / contrariée, je suis inquiet / inquiète.
PRESENTATION AND FLASHCARDS:
In addition to introducing key phrases, the presentation includes activities such as:
Sentence translation activities
Comprehension tasks
2 rounds of an interactive Hexagons Game (where teams compete to translate phrases and make a path through the grid)
10-rounds of an interactive Hangman Spelling Game, where teams compete to discover and correctly spell French words linked to the topic
14 rounds of an interactive Reveal the Picture Game, where teams translate phrases to reveal small sections of photographic images linked to the topic
Please note that almost all the text in the PowerPoint is editable, however the other content of the slides is not.
Many slides in the original PowerPoint version feature answers that appear when you click, for students to respond. An additional PDF version is included. While the PDF version does not retain the ability for teachers to reveal answers by clicking, it will still help you introduce and review this topic if you do not have PowerPoint where you work. Please note that the Hexagons, Hangman and Reveal the Picture games are not compatible with PDF and are therefore omitted from that version.
Also within the Zip file is a PDF of flash cards for 30 emotions and feelings in French, with two on each page.
WORKSHEETS AND PUZZLES:
Vocabulary support pages to display or print if required. 3 pages of word mats with photographic images, covering all 30 key phrases, a 1-page vocabulary list, an adjectival agreement table and a support page for être and avoir. All can also be used as prompts for classroom speaking activities. These vocabulary pages are also contained in my Les émotions et sentiments Games pack.
6 worksheets, all differentiated two ways using a star system. The one-star version is the least challenging, for lower ability, younger or less experienced students. Includes jumbled words, translation tasks, fill the blanks tasks and a short reading comprehension.
3 puzzles - There’s a grid puzzle, hidden word puzzle and a maze. The grid puzzle is differentiated, with the first letter given for each word in the easier version. In the hidden word puzzle, students find translation errors and use linked letters to uncover the missing word to complete a related sentence. In the maze, students make a pathway by correctly translating emotions and feelings into French.
Full answer keys
GAMES AND ACTIVITIES:
Sentences Board Game: Students say aloud in French the translations of the sentences they land on. Includes some first person singular sentences but also second, third and plural too. Print and laminate boards for repeated use. Answer key included.
Four in a Row Game: Print and laminate the game board. Enlarge if using with a bigger group. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Students roll dice, then choose an emotion / feeling from that number column and say it in French. If correct, use a dry-wipe marker to put a symbol or initial in that box (opponents could use a different colour dry-wipe marker).
Loop Game: A speaking game for groups or the whole class. Print and laminate for repeated use. The 30 cards form a continuous loop so it doesn’t matter which one you start with.
“Comment te sens-tu?” Active Oral Game: Print and laminate the cards you want to use. 36 cards in the set. Students have one card each and must move around the room, asking in French how others are feeling, aiming to meet the person with the matching card. Students must reply in French, using the image on their card.
Mime Game: A team game, where students mime feelings to make their teammates guess correctly in French.
Square Jigsaw Puzzle: Students rearrange the puzzle pieces so that each French feelings phrases is placed next to the English translation. When completed, the letters on the outside edge of the big square will form a linked sentence.
Full game instructions included.

For MFL / FSL, KS3, KS4 or even adult language learners, this giant French Adjectives vocabulary crossword puzzle, is great for cover lessons, starters or early finishers activities or as an extension challenge activity after a focus on Les Adjectifs. Use this huge puzzle to revise and extend vocabulary. There are 116 words in the puzzle, all singular adjectives and a mixture of masculine and feminine spellings. PDF format - 16 pages.
You could return to it over several sessions. This is low prep, great for collaboration, printable, differentiated, has an answer key, and there’s even an optional hidden sentence challenge! Best not used with absolute beginners, as it’s designed to review AND expand students’ existing vocabulary, to provide a challenge. Depending on experience and ability of students and level of support given, this can work with Key Stage 3 and 4 and beyond.
Please click on the preview file to check suitability for your students.
Fun: Giant crosswords are enjoyable to complete.
Low prep: Great for sub lessons and busy times.
Flexible: Can fill a whole lesson or more, or be completed over multiple days.
Early finishers: Great as an early finisher activity or extension, maybe to be competed over several sessions.
Collaboration: Although it can be used for individuals, it’s especially good for pairs or small groups.
Differentiation: Alternative clue page & vocab support page.
Challenge: Fun hidden sentence extension!
HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE THIS ACTIVITY:
There are 2 versions of the clue sheets – one with just the word itself in English (to be translated into French) and an easier version with the first letter given.
Choose whether to provide the alphabetical answer list, perhaps just to support certain students, or distribute it only when students have done as much as they can independently
Consider using mixed-ability groups
Decide whether to allow access to online or traditional dictionaries, perhaps later when students have completed as much as they can independently
Consider whether to use the hidden sentence challenge version (students use a blank grid with stars printed on certain squares, and then put the letters together from the star boxes to spell out a hidden word). There are 2 versions of the recording sheet for this challenge, should you wish to use them, and separate answer keys
Early finishers could be directed to online sources to check out the pronunciation of unfamiliar words
Whatever you choose, I hope your students have as much fun completing it as I did compiling it!
You might want to expand the crossword if using with larger groups but if you can’t, it will still work in standard size.

Build number sense with this KS2 Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths BUNDLE of fun printable games and puzzles worksheets for rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, whole number, 1 decimal place, 2 decimal places and estimating the sum or difference by rounding to ten. All in PDF format. Includes:
17 fun, challenging and strategic estimation and rounding games
7 hidden word puzzles
Great for starters, early finishers, revision or as fun homework tasks
ROUNDING GAMES:
These dice games make students think carefully about where to place digits in order to make each statement on the board correct. As children are allowed to place the digits they roll (or spin) in any row on their side of the board, they will begin to generate tactics and the uncertainty will be prolonged until the final moments!
Many levels of challenge - ideal for differentiation or for use across year groups: includes multiple games for each of rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, whole number, one decimal place, two decimal places, estimating the sum or difference and one for rounding to the nearest ten thousand
Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens
Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups
Instructions are printed on the board
If you don’t have a 0-9 dice:
Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some
Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file)
Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)
ROUNDING HIDDEN WORD PUZZLES:
1 for rounding to the nearest ten
1 for rounding to the nearest hundred
1 for rounding to the nearest thousand
1 for rounding to the nearest whole number
1 for rounding to the nearest one decimal place
1 for rounding to the nearest two decimal places
1 for rounding money to the nearest pound (dollar version also included)
More about hidden word puzzles: Similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the rounding work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a number to be rounded and a letter. Once students have rounded all the numbers, they cross out any boxes containing numbers that round to certain specified target numbers. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. If the word is more simple, the letters are in random order for students to reassemble. If it is a trickier word (such as a famous mathematician), the letters are already placed in the correct order in the grid. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word.

PUZZLES
An engaging alternative to worksheets, these Numeracy puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities. There’s one on increasing and decreasing temperature (Celsius), one for simple subtraction calculations with mostly negative number answers and a more challenging puzzle featuring addition and subtraction of negative and positive integers. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a maths-related word is revealed after completing calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Students circle boxes containing errors. Then they assemble the letters from the circled boxes to reveal a maths word. There’s a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the word.
Pupils often forget or avoid checking their work so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work.
LOOP CARDS / DOMINOES
Fun group / whole class activity to consolidate adding and subtracting negative numbers, using phrases (‘reduce by’, ‘increase’, ‘difference between’ etc). Forms a continuous loop.
WORD PROBLEM CARDS
8 Multi-Step Word Problem Cards and 8 more simple. Solutions can be printed back to back with question side for student self-checking or can be printed and made into separate cards if required. Consolidates understanding of negative numbers in the contexts of temperature (degrees Celsius), money / bank accounts and points in a sporting league. Work well as early finisher challenges. Separate pounds and dollars versions.

Please visit FullShelf Resources for engaging, time-saving printables, activities and presentations to plan Primary Literacy / English, Maths / Numeracy and French lessons.
This hands-on making sentences word ordering resource (questions version) is a full class set of 30 different reusable question building activity boards and also comes with an additional worksheet version of all boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (Y1) - or Primary 2 in Scotland -, these simple sentence construction SPaG / Grammar activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability. Emergent writers love lifting the words off to sort and unscramble them to find the hidden simple question. With an engaging picture clue and title on each, this word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resource suits a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the question out on the lines, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice of making question sentences should help children begin to form questions independently.
This is a 67 page PDF document in a Zip file, together with an additional editable Word document of the word cards only.
Each mixed-up question contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help identify the first word and to reinforce this key punctuation rule, and a question mark to place at the end. While constructing sentences, children learn about word order in questions and as it features a range of question starters (What?/When?/How?/Who?/Did? etc), it helps children begin to use a wider variety.
Also available are 2 more sets of scrambled sentences boards (non-questions), one with 4-5 words per sentence and a more challenging one with 6-8 words. SAVE by purchasing all 3 in a bundle.
Jumbled Sentences (4-5 words)
Jumbled Sentences (6-8 words)
Jumbled Sentences BUNDLE
Colour print on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support.
Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is coloured differently to help identify the board it is from. Train students to replace the words and to wipe boards before putting them back. Quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens help!
A one-page ANSWER KEY is included.

You could use a mixture of the two levels for differentiation in the same class. Please check the individual resource descriptions and previews to check if this will meet your needs.
Children enjoy trying to beat their previous best score. These informal tests are split across 6 PowerPoints and are designed to be shown on the whiteboard, with children recording answers in jotters or on paper. In each quiz there’s one question to a slide so children can focus on it for a few seconds before the next one comes up. The question slides are plain and uncluttered to minimise distractions. You can run the PowerPoint presentation on a timer if you wish - alternatively click it on yourself, perhaps allowing a little longer for more challenging questions. Each test features 20 calculations involving a variety of mathematical skills and knowledge.
At the end of each test, there follows the same 20 slides repeated, with the answer added clearly. Children can mark their own or a partner’s work to cut down on your workload. If short of time, you can whizz through the answers but each answer appearing with its question like this allows for important discussions about strategies.
Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Negative Numbers, Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100, Place Value, Decimals, Percentages, Fractions, Money, Measure (including Area and Perimeter, Time, Length), Angles.
Additional dollar versions of all 3 PowerPoints are included, where I have amended any questions involving pounds and pence to suit countries using dollars.

The spelling, punctuation and grammar in these resources follows UK rules.
Use them as lesson starter tasks, early finisher challenges or as stations in spelling or SPaG lessons

Proofreading Hidden Word Puzzles
Year 5 /6 Spelling Activities
MORE INFO:
PROOFREADING HIDDEN WORD / SPOT THE MISTAKES PUZZLES:
6 puzzles
Fun alternatives to standard worksheets
Minimal preparation
Concepts included: homophones and other common spelling errors, full stops, capital letters, question marks, commas, colons, speech marks, proper nouns, missing words, repeated words, tenses, subordinate clauses and embedded clauses
Included with and without pastel background, which could support some learners to view text more clearly
Students circle or highlight errors in each line of text. When they find lines with 3 or more errors, they take the corresponding letter from the grid at the bottom of the page
When finished, rearrange letters to find hidden grammar or punctuation word
Individuals, pairs or small groups
For differentiation put lower ability children into pairs, perhaps with a higher ability student
To save printing, print on card and laminate for repeated use with whiteboard pens
YEAR 5 / YEAR 6 SPELLING HIDDEN WORD / SPOT THE MISTAKES PUZZLES:
3 puzzles feature sentences containing multiple words from the Year 5 and Year 6 spelling list, most spelled correctly
Puzzles work in the same way as the proofreading ones above
In each puzzle the hidden word is another word from the spelling list
Versions included without and without background
For differentiation put lower ability children into pairs, perhaps with a higher ability student. Allow a word list or dictionary for support.
FOUR IN A ROW GAMES:
3 boards, each containing 36 sentences which feature a misspelled word from the Year 5 and Year 6 word list
These words are printed in bold and underlined
Pairs or individuals play against each other, aiming to correct 4 adjacent spellings in a line - horizontally, vertically or diagonally
Students roll dice to determine from which column they must pick a sentence
Print and laminate for regular use
They were originally designed for A3 printing, and I recommend this, with students writing directly on the board with a thin whiteboard pen. However, it works fine in A4 (you may need to adjust printer settings). If A4, students could write their spelling on a mini whiteboard or paper and put initials in the space on the board if correct

An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these no prep puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a decimals calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
Well-differentiated Decimal Place Value Four-in-a-Row Game Boards and Cards: Use for consolidation of decimal place value understanding and ordering decimal numbers (1, 2 and 3 decimal places).
Includes:
• Two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places)
• Two A3 Four in a Row boards. The 1 star version was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. It works especially well in A3, however, you could scale down the board to A4 and use the smaller card set supplied.
You could have pairs take on other pairs. Each team of two starts with a set of cards (print each set on different coloured card if you don’t have coloured printing that would allow you to print the different coloured cards supplied, then laminate to use again and again). It works well if each team shuffles their cards, puts them in a pile and takes one from the top at a time, which they then put down on the board if there’s a suitable empty box. They aim to get four of their cards in a row. Each box has a stipulation about the numbers that can be placed on it (no tenths, < 1.5, > 0.31, < 0.56, five hundredths etc). To save printing you could split a set between 2 or 3 boards as a single team won’t require all 54 cards. The cards can also be used separately from the game boards for ordering activities.
Decimal Numbers to 1 Decimal Place Numeracy Treasure Hunt : An active printable mental maths team game, with differentiation, ideal as a whole class starter or plenary, especially when focusing on addition and subtraction of decimals or place value to tenths / one decimal place. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of decimals calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included, along with solutions.
