A glossary for each of the 9 Edexcel GCSE Music Set Works. Each glossary is split into musical elements e.g. rhythm, melody, texture etc.

Resources used to introduce rhythm to GCSE students (could be used with year 9 key stage 3). This includes performance, composition and listening all based around rhythm skills only - with a short introduction to structure and texture. This can then be extended to look at melody. All resources are differentiated with set tasks for different levels of students and begins with writing rhythms, developing them using specific development methods, performing a rhythmic piece as an ensemble and then composing a similar piece in groups. Homework individual composition is also attached as well as a feedback lesson.

Includes powerpoint and planning resources for an assessment analysing Crooks in Chapter 4. Also includes a model essay to help with responding to feedback. Also includes 6 tasks based on Chapter 4 that works well as an independent learning task or as a cover lesson.

2-3 lessons focused on unfamiliar listening of the Baroque and Classical genres and focus on key terminology in the questions (Qu 8 on the exam). All pp is differentiated with success criteria. 4 questions - 1 with a score and extension questions for target grade 8/9 students. 1x question includes a short score and becomes the focus for an essay question comparing to Beethoven. PP includes answers and breaks them down into AO3 and 4 possibly answers to encourage top mark essay writing skills and content.

Lesson on A Wife in London by Thomas Hardy. Includes starter, differentiated questions for students to explore the poem independently followed by answers and then detailed annotations. The final slide is an examination question in the style of EDUQAS 9-1.

A resource which compares the set work of Wicked to 2 other pieces in preparation for the essay question (question 9). The scores for the unfamiliar pieces are attached. The links to audio are on the pp along with ideas and plans for each of the 2 questions. This could take 2 lessons (along with writing the essays) or be the preparation for an assessment or homework. There is differentiated success criteria which shows students how to access higher bands.

A comprehensive list of 32 A Level style exam questions. The table invites students to plan a response to each question by creating a thesis statement and thinking of 3 main points to support their thesis.

Narrative writing lesson for mid to low ability based on preparing students for English Language Paper 1 Section B. Using an image of a dark alley, students use the 6 paragraph planning sheet to structure their narrative. This lesson works very effectively with mid/low ability students. There are also 3 model paragraphs to annotate about a dark alley. Also includes resources for self and peer assessment of the first draft.

This 44 page PowerPoint collates my carefully selected annotations for each poem onto one 44 page powerpoint. The annotations are animated to appear on the mouse click so you can go over them one by one. Lesson looking at how Macbeth and Banquo react differently to the witches’ predictions with two model paragraphs. Also includes 15 questions aimed at understanding Act 1 Scene 3 and teacher annotations of Act 1 Scene 3.

A full lesson on Act 1 Scene 5 including discussion about the role of women in Jacobean society, annotations of the whole scene followed up with an analytical writing task with an example paragraph as guidance. There is also an alternative version of the lesson included for differing abilities.

I use these as final revision lessons for Lord of the Flies. I introduce 6 big ideas and ask students to complete a mind map by linking points, quotes and context to each BIG IDEA. They use my attached top 50 quotation sheet and knowledge organiser sheet to help them do this. I then model my answers for each BIG IDEA which appear one by one on the mouse click so you can talk through them. Also contains a detailed PowerPoint and accompanying worksheet for developing detailed grade 9 style explorations of key quotations covering the 5 main characters.
