Resources used to introduce rhythm to GCSE students (could be used with year 9 key stage 3). This includes performance, composition and listening all based around rhythm skills only - with a short introduction to structure and texture. This can then be extended to look at melody. All resources are differentiated with set tasks for different levels of students and begins with writing rhythms, developing them using specific development methods, performing a rhythmic piece as an ensemble and then composing a similar piece in groups. Homework individual composition is also attached as well as a feedback lesson.

2-3 lessons focused on unfamiliar listening of the Baroque and Classical genres and focus on key terminology in the questions (Qu 8 on the exam). All pp is differentiated with success criteria. 4 questions - 1 with a score and extension questions for target grade 8/9 students. 1x question includes a short score and becomes the focus for an essay question comparing to Beethoven. PP includes answers and breaks them down into AO3 and 4 possibly answers to encourage top mark essay writing skills and content.

This 44 page PowerPoint collates my carefully selected annotations for each poem onto one 44 page powerpoint. The annotations are animated to appear on the mouse click so you can go over them one by one. I use these as final revision lessons for Lord of the Flies. I introduce 6 big ideas and ask students to complete a mind map by linking points, quotes and context to each BIG IDEA. They use my attached top 50 quotation sheet and knowledge organiser sheet to help them do this. I then model my answers for each BIG IDEA which appear one by one on the mouse click so you can talk through them. Also contains a detailed PowerPoint and accompanying worksheet for developing detailed grade 9 style explorations of key quotations covering the 5 main characters. Also contains a lesson or series of lessons covering how to plan a response on 6 main characters using a grid and 4 high grade exemplar responses. Update: also now includes a detailed lesson on how to write thesis style statements.
