Revise 64 carefully selected mini quotations for the closed book examinations. Also includes a short summary of each scene to help students work out when each mini quotations is said. I have kept the quotations as concise as possible to aid with memory.

Using Island Man to teach about connotation and denotation of word choices.

This lesson is focused on Paper 1 Question 3 (AQA - commenting on the structure of the whole text). This seems to be a popular topic for interviews at the moment. I have used a very short extract with lots of shifts which widen and narrow the focus - Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie. Starter: Students rate their understanding of structural devices. Construct: Students try to identify narrative shifts in focus in the text. Main: Students look in more detail at the narrative shifts in the text. This activity is in the form of an A3 table and is differentiated. Bronze Level: Identify what is happening during each shift. Silver: Apply structural devices. Gold: Comment on the effect of structural devices. I have also included the lesson plan. For a more challenging class, students can use the extract from the opening of Kite Runner.

A selection of resources to aid students with completing essays for chamber music in the AQA A2 examination. Revision sheets comparing key works are included as well as powerpoints based around essay questions which take students through the process of writing essays. This also includes model responses relating to the set works.

Write a diary entry for Jonathan Starling in Darkside by Tom Becker. Also includes independent homework tasks and a task examining word choices.

A worksheet detailing all terminology and definitions for students to revise from for the area of study ‘Texture and Melody’. A powerpoint is also available which explains all terms with musical terminology and musical examples. There is also a texture card matching activity where students must match a key word to a definition and then to a score and listening example (all audio is provided).

I have blanked out the key words from my original revision sheet. To help students remember the quotations for Monday they must work out what is the missing word.

A homework sheet to support students with the old AF2 - producing texts suitable for task, purpose and audience.

Students analyse two adverts for Coca Cola. Students must explore how each text was shaped by its context. They think about attitudes to women in the 1950s compared to attitudes to women in the 21st century and think about how these are reflected in the advert. This always engages students.

Revision bookmarks including key terms for different styles of music and elements of music. They are different level (A2 bookmarks include much more detailed and more complicated harmonic terms). They should be printed and cut up so students can have a paper clip pack each. They can then be referred to for listening questions and when completing essays.
