I have used this resource with my year 2 group of Expected/Working At and Greater Depth/Working Above readers to introduce them to reading chapter books. The children have really enjoyed the tasks. The children call this their ‘selfie questions’ as they answer them independently after reading in pairs.
This resource contains planning for the entire book. Each session is based on 10 pages from the book. The questions cover a range of different types including retrieval, inference, prediction and clarification and each ‘selfie’ sheet has two extension tasks. This resource pack also includes my introduction lesson where the children use their prediction skills to explain what they thought the story would include, a recount of the story lesson and the summary lesson after completing the book to create their own book review.
This is a resource which could also be used with Year 3 readers as well.

I have always made it a point in my teaching to include famous figures from BAME/BIPOC backgrounds in all of my teaching practise. Here is a collection of 10 profiles of famous geographers and explorers who have had a profound impact on our world. I chose one of these to be displayed on my geography display board every half term and often refer to them in our pshe sessions.
I use these profiles to help the children understand their scientific contributions and its impact to our society. I also use these profiles to interest and engage the children in our science or english lessons e.g. writing a fact file about these individuals.
I hope this makes life easier in your own classroom. I rely on feedback from my customers, which helps me to improve the resources and products so please be kind enough to leave feedback on your purchases.
