Ten amazing women who changed the world. THIS RESOURCE IS FREE FOR THREE MONTHS! I will transfer this resource to my charity resource category after this introductory period.
After a year of aggression, dictatorship, war crimes, riots and other negatives, I felt driven to look for positives to contrast these horrendous activities. This resource looks back in history in order to select women who have made a significant influence on attitudes across the World. I have selected ten amazing women who for contrasting reasons have left a legacy of positivity. In spite of prejudice, bigotry and racism, my chosen, ten have shown courage and determination during their journey in life.
The resource includes: Two power point presentations, the first asks the question who are these women? The second highlights in detail what they achieved. An optional commentary has been printed for your use.
The minimum use of the resource would be two one hour lessons with limited commentary. Maximum use would be four to ten lessons focusing on each woman to identify how they differed and how they left their mark on society and the wider world.
Peace and Love.
I would appreciate your feedback. I hope you enjoy your teaching experience.
This resource is offered as a Presentation, Quiz Challenge and Fact File.
All of the chosen individuals have made a profound contribution to our development of scientific knowledge over the past hundreds of years. In the first instance it would ideally suit examination students of Science between the age of fourteen and eighteen. Key stage three children might also benefit from the two power point presentations as long as the commentary is minimal. It needs to focus on the main achievements of each scientist. For advanced students it can take the form of a Historical Quiz. This can be achieved by building through questions and discussion. Focus on the achievements and discoveries that each of these amazing scientists offered to the world. Feel free to use the footnotes in the best possible way for your students.
My shop supports three homeless charities, Crisis, The Salvation Army, and The Berwick Project. I am offering this resource free. My hope is that you might consider supporting one of these charities or similar, the next time you come across unfortunate people within your own communities. Good luck and enjoy the teaching journey.
This is a quiz with a difference. There are 20 images on offer with the answers given as an anagram. The topics include: People from the past, Living things, Buildings, Physical features from Geography, Bridges and monuments. This challenge is probably best suited to children between the ages of 10 and 16. The quiz involves two parts, firstly try to identify the pictures and secondly unscramble the anagram and complete with the correct spelling of each answer. A little bit different. I hope the children are up to this challenge and enjoy it.

Lock Down Picture Quiz prepared for youngsters between the ages of 9 and 16 years of age. Clues have been added to give them every chance of answering most of them. The answer page includes a fact file for additional learning whilst checking the answers. The pictures include famous people from History as well as familiar faces from 2020’s.
This resource is a timeline of World War One from start to finish. It is offered to teachers and students of History as a support document for lessons about the people and events in WW1. It can be used in many ways such as stimulation for discussions or writing tasks. Teachers can set their students a task and the file can serve as a database of knowledge for them to compile their answers. There are many pictures and links to videos that can form part of a lesson. This resource is ideal for 13 to 16 year old students. It is offered in memory of my late father Jackie Patterson, he served in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and survived the 2nd World War.
Picture Quiz - 001 is a mixture of famous people. It includes topics such as Science, History, Television personalities, Popular music and Sport. It is probably best suited to children from Year 5 through to Year 10. The page with the answers also includes a few extra facts about each person. Parents and teachers may need to guide the younger children through the follow up information. Updated 17-05-20 … A few minor errors corrected.
This is a 20 picture quiz that includes cities from Europe. Each question offers a picture with a connection to each of the cities chosen. Along with each picture I have offered a number of facts to help identify the city. The clues are offered as a learning experience where the children can learn a little bit about the city in question whilst trying to identify each of the cities included in the challenge. The quiz can be tackled at three different levels. Firstly - 3 points would be awarded for a correct answer using only the written clues. Second - If the contestant is struggling they may be able to work out the answer by studying the anagrams offered at this stage. Answers given in response to the anagram would score 2 points. Third - For 1 point children can be offered the first letter that makes up the name of each city. On page 4 there is a map of Europe showing some of the cities in the quiz along with others that were not chosen. This quiz would be most suitable for children between the ages of 11 and 16. It may also be useful to Primary School pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 with the help of an Atlas.
Another free General Knowledge Quiz compiled by Lynne Patterson. This is the fifth in a series of quiz challenges. The quiz has been prepared for my two grand-daughters Emilia and Florence. They are 9 and 11 years old. It will be suitable for children between the age of 9 and 15 years. Free to all for use as a home study exercise. Try answering them without assistance for 3 points and then receive 1 point for finding the answers using the internet or other sources. I hope you have some family fun.
This resource is offered free to Geography teachers who are returning to the classroom after the challenges of lock down 2021.
This Geography resource challenges the children to test their knowledge and find out more about the cities and familiar places in the British Isles. The first part of the challenge refers mainly to the cities of the British Isles and it comes in the form of an anagram. The second part of the challenge focuses mainly on rivers or counties as well as other connections.
There are two formats on offer: 1) As a Power Point Presentation. This shows an image of the city or a familiar place. Above each image there is the anagram and also a follow up question. The children will enjoy the challenge of working out the anagram! Who will be first to solve the puzzle? The whole class can be guided through the challenge with the teacher supporting the progress with clues. The children can be encouraged to offer extra information about places they have visited. All of the children move on to the next challenge together and no-one gets left behind. There may be enough extension work to split this challenge into two lessons (10 images used in each lesson). 2) The second format offers this resource as a four sided A4 paper document that can be printed and used in various ways. It can be used as a homework project involving families or individuals. It may also be used as a cover lesson if any of the teachers are absent. Having completed the City Geography Challenge, a possible extension to this work could be a “Fact File Project” where each child produces five more pieces of factual information about each of the 20 images. Another possible use of the resource would be to compile sentences including the two pieces of geographical information from each challenge. This would help the children to develop their literacy skills. I believe that this resource can be used for children from 9 years through to 15 years of age. The younger children will need greater guided support than those in KS3 or KS4.
Please feel free to visit my TES shop to check out my resources. All income goes to three different homeless charities. I hope you enjoy your return to the classroom. Best wishes to you all.

Study at home with this quiz - This is the tenth (010) in a series of quiz challenges. It is a General Knowledge Quiz prepared for my two grand-daughters Emilia and Florence. They are 9 and 11 years old. It will be suitable for children between the age of 9 and 15 years. Free to all for use as a home study exercise. Try answering them without assistance for 3 points and then receive 1 point for finding the answers using the internet or other sources. I hope you have some family fun. Ask the children to study the answers after completing the quiz. This is when they find out about things they did not know. Have fun and stay safe.
Study at home with this quiz (007) - This is the seventh in a series of quiz challenges.
This is the third set of Lock down Quiz challenges (011 to 015). Initially these quizzes were prepared for my two grand-daughters who are 9 and 11 years old. They are also available to all parents and teachers who may wish to use them with their families or students at home. I have tried to make each quiz easy enough to allow youngsters to get a few correct especially at the lower age range. Even if children do not have the wide range of knowledge to answer all of the questions they can use the quiz as a fact gathering exercise by checking out the answers from the internet or other sources. I suggest the children try to answer each question without assistance for 3 points and then with help using research options for 1 bonus point. The answer sheet is equally important as I have tried to offer some wider background information about some of the topics. Going through the answer sheet is a valuable learning exercise. Doing each quiz as a family challenge may well be very entertaining (singles or pairs / with or without a quiz master?). With a quiz master there is no need to print each quiz. With teams, perhaps double points (2 points) for singles answering and one point for a shared answer. I hope you have some family fun… Ian Patterson.
End of Lock Down picture quiz 004. This quiz offers 20 images of important people dating back to the Romans in Britain to the end of the 20th Century. Each picture includes a number of clues to help identify the person. All of the people chosen have made a significant contribution to History around the World. The historical figures would probably best suit children from the Secondary sector but I am fairly sure that older Primary students may also benefit greatly from the choice of famous people included in this quiz. My selection includes people from Science, Sport, Politics, Royalty and Literature. I am sure that the children will learn a lot from the choice of people included. I hope you enjoy this quiz. Ian Patterson.
Another Quiz (012) prepared for my two grand-daughters Emilia and Florence. They are 9 and 11 years old. The quiz will be suitable for children between the age of 9 and 15 years. Free to all for use as a home study exercise. Try answering them without assistance for 3 points and then receive 1 point for finding the answers using the internet or other sources. Some of the images lend themselves to classroom discussion topics such as: Famous people, Art, Countries, Flags, Animals, Literature, History, Plants and Science as well as a multitude of other worldwide topics. The answer sheet acts as a mini fact sheet as there are a few extra notes included. I hope you have some family fun. Ask the children to study the answers after completing the quiz. This is when they find out about things they did not know. Have fun and stay safe.
