A EYFS/KS1-friendly version of the Easter Story, perfect for assemblies and lessons about Easter. The powerpoint tells the Christian story of Easter very simply and at the end there are some reflection questions for the children to discuss.

Our Year 2s loved this unit, in particular the role play element. In hindsight, I would have split session 3 into two sessions as the children enjoyed the acting so much. The whole class, even the less able, were able to identify a command sentence with confidence following this unit - even many months afterwards. Most were able to write commands independently in a variety of contexts. The pupils are the captain of their own ship and they have a very unhealthy crew that they must whip into shape! The unit begins with the basic needs of animals for survival and moves onto healthy lifestyles, including exercise, healthy eating and hygiene. I had lots of fun with my class teaching this unit and some good discussions which threw up misconceptions. Use these Christmas calculations to challenge your pupils’ understanding, ability to reason mathematically and algebraic thinking in a fun and engaging way! Using images to represent numbers, children use what they know to discover the value of the images. They need to understand the meaning of =, x and ÷ signs and the relationship between multiplication and division. The calculations include 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 times tables. There are 4 sets of progressively more difficult calculations, as well as 4 sets with the numbers given in an answer key for children requiring more support. Based on the 2016 interim assessment framework for KS1 mathematics, this form provides additional evidencing of the Working Towards criteria for maths. Useful for children who struggle to record their knowledge.

Year 1 writing frames/scaffolds for our first topic - 'Wish you were here...' We will be using the 'Holidays - joining with and - writing scaffolds' to practise orally rehearsing sentences including words joined with 'and' before writing them. Moving on from using the scaffold we will be writing sentences about our holiday with more independence. We'll be using the postcard templates as role-play writing materials but they could be used in a variety of ways including phonics application, early morning work or incorporated into a whole lesson. The postcards include three levels of differentiation.

Bookmark targets cards in a variety of colours and with a range of headings, including a blank space for you to write on your own if preferred. The target cards include a 'Personal Best' box for children/teacher to record their achievement and attempt to improve upon it. E.g. I can use full stops correctly. PB - 5 (full stops used correctly). I've found 'PB's to be very motivating in the past! They also give children a sense of ownership and involvement with their targets.

Three differentiated classic logic puzzles. I can remember doing these as a child and loving them! There are lists of clues and children can either draw pictures or use the grids provided to logically reason who lives in which house. The answers are provided with this resource.

This compare and contrast Titanic lesson is perfect for an end of unit lesson that promotes retrieval of taught information, addresses common misconceptions and teaches children to apply their understanding in a new context. Children are presented with opportunities to think historically, choronologically order events and discuss ideas. The lesson plan is written around the new Ofsted draft framework requirements with an Intent, Implementation and Impact planning format. These castle themed digital phonics worksheets are perfect for practising early spelling using a tablet or PC with young writers! No printing is required - all you’ll need is a device that has PowerPoint, or access to Google Slides via the internet, a piece of paper and a pencil or pen. The digital worksheets begin with simple CVC (consonant sound, vowel sound, consonant sound) words such as pig, hat, etc. with the middle sound provided. Children sound out (segment) the word, using the image and given letter for support and then write the word on their piece of paper. Answers are provided on the penultimate slide so they can even mark their own work. Once they have mastered level 1, they can “unlock” the next level and so on, building up their segmenting for spelling skills progressively and systematically. What’s included? A perfect introduction to 2D shapes in Early Years and/or Year 1! Some number stories which ask students to identify the problem is addition or subtraction? Students need to be able to answer this type of question if they are going to understand and work through mathematical word problems.

I use this spreadsheet for my tracking. It includes groups that my school is focussing on and allows you to filter by these groups e.g., Free School Meals, EAL, summer/spring/autumn birthdays, etc.. It will be easy to change the column headings to include groups that your school is focussing on.\n\nThere is a tab for each of maths, reading, literacy and science.
