A booklet that I created for my Y11 to revise from over Xmas for the Rights and Responsibilities Unit

Two lessons that follow the AQA 9-1 Spec that look at Christian and Muslim attitudes to sexuality. Lesson 2 has a deep focus on writing a perfect 4 mark answer with lots of marked exemplars and models for students to assess and then assess their own answer. Tasks supplement and support the new OXFORD textbooks

Outcomes: To describe Muslim beliefs about sex before and outside marriage To explain the reasons for different Muslim beliefs about sex before and outside marriage To evaluate whether you think Shari’ah punishments for those having sax outside marriage are justified A lesson that focusses on a 5 mark answer that suggests technique and model answers for students. Worksheets and activities are printable off the PowerPoint No textbook necessary.

A lesson that supports the hodder textbook that revisits British Values and Democracy in the UK. Worksheets to support the activities/ discussion tasks/ exam question practice etc. Lesson outcomes: To know what British Values are To explain why British Values are important To evaluate how as a citizen you can support and contribute to the British Values

Six lessons of revision for the Life in Modern Britain Unit that I devised in preparation for our upcoming mock in year 11. A range of activities/ suggested clips are on each PowerPoint. These lessons could easily be adapted for teaching each theme

A lesson that allows students to revise a set of key quotes (resources provided). Tips and quick wins are on the PowerPoint Students can also look at/ practice and assess model 5 mark answers ( I recently did an AQA training course and based the answers on this) All models are worth 5 marks. I have tried to teach y11 to condense how much they write in a 5 mark question as many run out of time in the exam. There are opportunities for students to practice using Point-Evidence-Explain with suggested strategies for the long 12 mark answer

A lesson that explores exam technique on all styles of questions. There's an emphasis on 8 mark question structure and using sources in the exam for the 4 mark answer Complete with activities and peer/ self assessment opportunities

This lesson supports the OXFORD textbook page 60-61. Slides on the PowerPoint can be printed as worksheets. Suggested clips are included. Reflection and discussion activities throughout. The lesson also looks at a 4 mark contrast question. Outcomes: To outline two different Muslim attitudes to contraception To explain the reasons for different attitudes using the Qur’an and Hadith To compare and contrast teachings to Christian attitudes

Outcomes To describe why marriage is important in Christianity To explain how the marriage ceremony reflects the purpose of marriage To evaluate why different groups of Christians have different attitudes to marriage A lesson with a variety of independent activities to discuss and summarise the Christian attitude to the purpose of marriage. The lesson finished with an exam question plenary

6 HOURS WORTH OF LESSON TIME/ REVISION A comprehensive set of lessons that look at 1. Exam technique in Q3/4 2. How to apply quotes 3. Generic revision of quotes for the themes: Relationships and families/ Peace and conflict/ Crime and Punishment. 4. Islam keywords revision 5. Exam practice and self assessment opportunities 6. In depth look at the 4 mark contrast/ similar questions I used lots of documents off the AQA website to support ie: the teachers guide/ keywords etc. You may need to download these to support the lessons yourself. These lessons could be adapted to any topic you teach.

Outcomes: To describe why Muslims choose to get married To explain what happens in a Muslim marriage ceremony and how it reflects the values of marriage This lesson comes with an information sheet and students can use page 62 of the OXFORD textbook to design a leaflet that looks at the purpose of marriage.

This lesson looks at divorce and remarraige in Islam and then ends with a 12 mark question for students to complete that asks students to consider the Christian attitudes explored in the previous lesson. The lesson comes complete with worksheets to support the teaching of this topic

Politics and Participation Mock Paper and Mark Scheme I have created a 40 mark mock exam paper that is modelled by the sample questions offered by AQA. I have embedded and included my own sources with questions using the examination format/ terminology. I have attached a generic mark scheme to help with the marking of student answers.

Lesson outcomes: To know what Muslims believe the purpose of the family is. To explain Muslim attitudes to different types of family. To evaluate Mohammad’s teachings about the family The lesson is fully resourced and can be used alongside the OXFORD textbook. Students are encouraged to create an advice leaflet (template on the powerpoint) about the importance of family in Islam. The lesson also addresses the importance of the family supporting the Ummah in Islam. This lesson ends with students using their knowledge to write a 5 mark answer with peer assessment guidance and model answers.

This lesson looks at the nature and importance of prayer with a variety of independent activities/ discussion points and exam practice (complete with model answers etc.) Outcomes: Must: Define what a prayer is Should: Explain the reasons Christians play using examples and keywords Could: Evaluate what the Lords prayer teaches about the importance of prayer and the nature of God

Two lessons that look at the meaning and purpose behind Holy Communion. The first lesson comes with worksheets - discussion activities etc. The second lesson is a research lesson whereby students look up the different services between the denominations. It supports the OXFORD textbook Outcomes: Must: describe what Holy Communion is Should: Link it to the last supper and explain why it happens. Could: Compare different Christian beliefs about Holy Communion

REVISION LESSON Activities that can be used alongside the OXFORD textbook that allow students to gather the key information for Christian and Muslim beliefs attitudes to: Origins of the uni Stewardship Pollution Etc. The lesson ends with a mini 12 minute exam practice test with a mark scheme There’s a host of activities that can be printed on the PPT ie. worksheets etc.

This lesson supports page 56-57 of the textbook. Students are encouraged to create a factfile about the growth of the church. The internet could be used to supplement this lesson. The lesson starts with a discussion activity and has key info about CFAN along with a video clip Outcomes: Must: Identify facts about the growth and decline of Christianity Should: Explain what the CfaN is and what they do. Could: Suggest reasons for the growth and decline of the church.
