A flexible Literacy lesson that uses the topic of fire to generate ideas of a poem. This is an excellent lesson for the end of a poetry topic. Children are encouraged to use their senses as well as simile and onomatopoeia to create a poem all about fire. this would fit in very well with Bonfire Night, the Stone Age, Fire of London or Halloween. Children can write their poetic phrases onto flames and build up their poem like a real bonfire. This makes for a wonderful class display. Alternatively, there is writing paper for the children to use instead.

An exciting Maths investigation based on the book 'The Lorax' by Dr Seuss. This lesson explores the possible colour combinations that can be created by joining different coloured tufts to the trunks of the Truffula trees. A range of whole class and individual checklists to assist with the collection of evidence and assessment of children’s achievement throughout the year. Both checklists follow the interim framework criteria which was used for SATs assessments and moderations. Whole class checklists allow the teacher to have an overview of the whole class on one page and identify gaps to cover further. They include working at, working towards and greater depth checklist.
