The lesson references the new AQA English Language exam and includes a markscheme for Paper 2, Section B although the resource could very easily be adapted to suit all specifications. The theme of the lesson is ‘reality TV’ to engage students with the task of non-fiction writing for a specific audience. The lesson includes a number of engaging activities including: individual and collaborative work, assessment opportunities and intervention and extension opportunities.

My students have struggled to get to grips with the structure question (question 3) on the new Paper 1, Section A exam for AQA. I recently attended an AQA support meeting and planned this lesson to incorporate some of the exam board's messages with regards to teaching the structure question. My students produced mucher better responses to question 3 after I went through this lesson with them. The lesson is focused on the opening of '1984' and includes 15 slides plus a copy of the extract to use with students. Includes: Sample 8 mark answer Planning grid for students Clear and explicit links to the AQA markscheme Key terminology and suggested phrases Hope it helps!
