Lesson 10 on AQA 9-1 Specification Crime & Deviance This lesson looks at why there is a difference between the social classes and their involvement in crime. There is a 45 minute documentary link attached to one of the slides, that is not essential but a good alternative.

A lesson that looks at longitudinal studies with a focus on the series seven Up! Students read through a resource and consider why this study is useful before learning about what a longitudinal study is. There is the option to show them the documentary, with some comprehension style questions. The end activity in a knowledge retrieval quiz which is part of the scheme of work.

A lesson that looks at ethical issues, covers experiments in light of what ethical issues they pose and why they are rarely used in Sociological research followed by a consolidation task in which students evaluate all of the research methods covered in the unit. A new scheme of work aimed at KS3 Y7. This unit of work will be a Chronology of Monotheism. Starting with Genesis, moving through Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each religion will cover Key religious figures, information on their holy book and a rite of passage/religious practice. The aim of this unit is to compliment our GCSE curriculum in which we study Christianity and Islam. The learning journey for the unit is included. Muhammad and the role of women- A lesson that looks at Muhammad’s wives- Khaijah and Aisha, and how Muhammad changed the role of women in Islam. Worksheet and resource sheet to support a 6 mark exam question.

Attached are the learning journeys for the AQA Sociology GCSE whole course. I was asked to create these by a customer who had downloaded some of my lessons and wanted to use them for the whole course. These are printed and stuck into the students books at the start of each topic. You can edit and tweak these to suit your own course. They are great, not only at the start of the topic area, but provide students with a revision checklist. Students can cross out/highlight lesson areas when they have revised them. 2 lessons from my introduction to Sociology unit. These two lessons concentrate on the basic knowledge of Functionalism, and introduce Emilie Durkheim and Talcott Parsons. This is therefore suitable to introduce students to these key thinkers, or as a revision lesson.
