Math Tarsia Puzzle: ROMAN NUMERALS (1 - 50) In this activity, students will practice reading roman numerals from 1 to 50, as they piece together the pieces of each tarsia puzzle (5 DIFFERENT PUZZLES INCLUDED). Students will match their answers with a separate puzzle piece until all the math problems have been solved and the puzzle is completed. These MATH TARSIA PUZZLES are a FUN way for students to practice their multiplication facts that doesn’t involve a worksheet. The puzzle activity works well for individuals, as well as small groups. Alternatively, you can set up stations around the room, and have students or groups rotate to each station for a new math puzzle/game. Virtual Field Trip & Scavenger Hunt (GOOGLE EXPEDITIONS): American Landmarks. Virtual field trips are an amazing tool to use to take students on fun learning experiences from the comfort of your classroom (or living room during distance learning!). This virtual field trip is about AMERICAN LANDMARKS, where the students will have the opportunity to explore 9 different landmarks in America. First they will visit Independence Hall, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Monument. Then they will visit Mount Rushmore, the Alamo, the Gateway Arch and the Grand Canyon. Finally, they will go and learn more about the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge As the students go through the virtual field trip, they will be asked to complete an accompanying* scavenger hunt* by answering open-ended questions about the different places they are exploring. What’s Needed: All you need is a set of mobile devices for the students and a device for yourself (the guide/teacher) that all have the free “Google Expeditions App” before downloading your expedition. Virtual Field Trip & Scavenger Hunt (GOOGLE EXPEDITIONS): Geography of the POLES. Virtual field trips are an amazing tool to use to take students on fun learning experiences from the comfort of your classroom (or living room during distance learning!). This virtual field trip is about the Geography of the POLES, where the students will have the opportunity to explore 8 different locations at both ends of the Earth - the North and the South Poles. First they will visit the Arctic to learn about the tundra, glaciers, icebergs, Arctic sea ice, and nuclear-powered icebreakers that carry visitors to the North Pole. Then they will travel to Antarctica to explore the world’s largest ice sheet, the animals that live on the coldest continent, and the research being done there. As the students go through the virtual field trip, they will be asked to complete an accompanying* scavenger hunt* by answering open-ended questions about the different places they are exploring. What’s Needed: All you need is a set of mobile devices for the students and a device for yourself (the guide/teacher) that all have the free “Google Expeditions App” before downloading your expedition. To make the activity a truly immersive VR experience, you will also need VR headsets for the students (NOT included in this resource), but it is STILL possible to participate in the virtual field trips without a VR headset. When I use this in my classroom as a whole class activity, the students usually work in groups of three, so I use about 10 viewers. However, you can also use it as a part of a station rotation activity, so you would only need a couple of viewers. Tarsia Puzzle Templates: Compilation of 8 different puzzle templates! These tarsia vocabulary puzzles provide a hands-on, engaging way for students to learn, practice, and review vocabulary. They’re also great for warm-up/bell ringer activities or assessments. These puzzles, sometimes known as Tarsia puzzles, can be used for multiple grade levels and any subject that uses vocabulary. This collection of 8 blank templates allows you to create puzzles on a variety of topics. The hard work has already been done for you. All of the puzzles are completely editable, by building the collections of different shapes and adding the text boxes (all done in Word). All you need to do is fill in the text boxes with your chosen vocabulary, math formulas, root words, etc. You can also come up with your own shapes by either adding or removing pieces from the existing templates. The 8 vocabulary puzzle templates are ranging from 8 terms (8 pieces) to 30 terms (24 pieces). This video worksheet* allows students to follow along Bill Nye’s video about CLIMATE (Season 3, Episode 10). Each video worksheet includes a combination of fill-in-the blank, true/false, and/or short answer questions. Students fill in the video worksheet while watching Bill Nye the Science Guy. Watching a video is no longer a passive activity!! Students are engaged during the video as they must listen and write at the same time. This video worksheet has 15 questions. The video questions are relatively easy to answer while watching the video and are not so complicated that they require a great deal of writing. An answer key is included with this TES product. The video worksheet is printable, and NO prep is required. I have also included a QR code link to the video. This means that students can do the worksheet on their own even if they are absent.
