I originally trained and taught as a Primary school teacher in the UK for several years before moving to The Caribbean. I was given the opportunity to teach my favorite subject (Math) at a Secondary level (middle and high school; G7-11) and jumped at the chance. I aim to make resources which are: 1. Simple but effective - the most important aspect of a teaching resource is that it works. 2. Dynamic - I believe in changing it up! 3. Repetition - students need to regularly repeat key skills.

Sets of Numbers Lesson

This lesson contains whole class, individual and paired work. It includes a Powerpoint for whole class teaching and an individual task, as well as some flashcards or task cards for paired work. There is also some guidance for teachers on the notes section of the powerpoint. The lesson begins with the teacher explaining the different types of numbers, students then sort numbers into different sets as a whole class. After this student sort some numbers on their own and quiz each other on the number type of different numbers using task cards (the last two tasks can be done in any order). I estimate this lesson would take around 30 minutes. This lesson is aimed at CXC, 4th or 5th form students (equivalent t to year 10 and 11 GCSE) but can be used to teach any students about set of numbers.

Number Review Worksheets For Year 4 and 5

(0)
Number Review Worksheets These worksheets are suitable for students in years 4 and 5 to allow them to review key number concepts. They are a great time saver and can be used for 17 weeks of homework or regular in-class review. They are simple but effective, allowing children to revisit previous learning of number so they can retain basic skills. When completing these sheets students practice: place value: order numbers, state the value/place of digits arithmetic with whole numbers: mental and written addition and subtractions, multiply up to 3-digit multiplied by 2-digit numbers, up to 3digit divided by 1 digit. fractions: addition and subtraction (with different denominators) rounding: to the nearest 10, 100, 100 prime numbers factors and multiples: including highest common factor and lowest common multiple. The first sheet includes just place value and addition but each sheet covers a little more of the number curriculum. Sheets are in word format so can be edited if needed. They are designed for year 4/5 but would also be useful for revision for year 6.

Bar Model Loop Cards These bar model domino cards help student understand addition and subtraction by helping bridge the gap between concrete and abstract. There are 30 cards which can be used altogether for a whole class loop task - i.e. they have to line up in a loop with each bar model next to a matching number sentence. The students can also create the loop individually or in pairs. A black and white version is available on the final pages of the document.

Multiplications Game For 6, 7, 8, 9 Times Tables

(0)
This multiplication game involves building speed for the 6, 7, 8 and 9 times tables. Fun to play and adds variation to times tables learning. Repetitive play will allow students to build fluency in these multiplication tables. Students play in groups of 2 - 4. How to play Sort the cards into piles based on the shapes on the back. Each student gets a pile and shuffles their cards. On a start signal, students race to place their cards into the correct multiplication table mat. Students stop when the first person has gone through all their cards. Students then use the back of the mats to check all cards are in the correct place. They score 1 point for every card on the correct mat. They lose 2 points for a card on the wrong mat. Student with the most points wins. Teacher Instructions Print mats double sided and laminate. Print cards double sided and laminate. Print instructions for students or show on board. Game can be played in groups of 4 or less. Use as a whole class activity or for carousal activity.
