he game shows a family tree of La Familia Moderna, better known as ABC’s show “Modern Family” (This show is great! And it includes the famous Colombian actress Sofia Vergara). Students have picture cards with which they can play games relating to family vocabulary and the show. A list of several game idea is included. Since this game is free of charge and used for educational purposes, it does not infringe on copyright laws. Therefore, please do not sell it! Hope you enjoy! Use this project to help build a class altar for Día de los Muertos. Students are required to pick someone to honor for Día de los Muertos and celebrate their life by bringing in a picture, a sugar skull, and an offering. I’ve included 3 different versions of this project to fit three different levels of Spanish: Spanish 1: Write 25 words using present tense Spanish 2: Write 50 words using the preterite tense Spanish 3: Write 120 words using the preterite and imperfect tenses • Sugar_Skull_Box: a small craft project so that students have something to put on the ofrenda. It makes a box so they can add their offering inside.

A nice reading comprehension about a teeneager’s holiday in Costa Rica. Questions about the text, writing part and an extension about the use of Spanish past simple.

This PowerPoint was designed for my low-ability Year 8 group just before their writing test. The text tells about the typical week of Buffy, the vampire slayer. Pupils have to read, complete with the right verbs, and translate the paragraph, in order to keep a good example to follow. The starter is a translation of common phrases related to daily routine. I grew up calling these “cootie catchers” or “fortune-tellers,” but these little origami games are fun for Spanish vocab practice! Includes: 2 different “comecocos” versions student instructions explaining how to play student answer keys for checking their partner’s work instructions for YOU on how to fold these things! Vocabulary is pretty universal–but it’s specifically geared for Avancemos 1 Unit 3.1. I’ve included editable versions of documents included so that you can make modifications. I’d encourage you to give it a try! It’s a hit with students, and not nearly so hard as it looks to put together.

Move forward according to the number you get and conjugate the verb in brackets of each box, if you do not respond correctly, you lose a turn. The first person that reaches the end wins.
