Using ramps and cars the students plan their investigation using the planning sheet, and then carry out the investigation. This can all be done in one lesson. I then set them the task of writing up the investigation (using the level ladder) as homework, but could be done in a subsequent lesson

Practical activity.\n\nIn pairs students pick a type of ear to make. They then stand near the sound source that is included and walk backward until they can no longer hear the sound. The sound needs to be very low, along with the class being quiet.\n\nTwo elephant ears should be the best.
