A collection of 10 worksheets, 10 activities and 10 starters (in the form of a PowerPoint) to use with your year 6 class in the run-up to SATs. The ten topics covered are those that my class were finding difficult, so I decided they needed a bit of extra revision! The worksheets use questions that are based on the SATs SPaG papers, plus a few extras. The activities are perfect for group work and prepare your class for SATs in a more interactive way. The slideshow can be used for fillers, starters or plenaries. You can also put the three together to make 30 minute lessons on these tricky topics! For example, start with the slideshow to recap prepositions, before splitting your class into groups to do the interactive activity. This resource contains a comprehension pack on ‘Remembrance Day.’ There are four different comprehensions: What is Remembrance Day? The First Remembrance Day Why do we wear poppies? The History of the Poppy It includes answers and is suitable for using with year 1. Each comprehension contains a short piece of text (about 5 sentences) with words that can be sounded out. There are three trickier words which have pictures to help children work out what they say. The text is followed by 5 simple questions. There is also a powerpoint included in the pack containing a slide for each text so that you can go through the comprehensions before the children complete them. A collection of 3 practice SATs SPaG papers for year 6. All three papers are based on a past SPaG paper 1. Each practice paper contains 50 questions focussing on a range of punctuation and grammar. Answers are also included. This includes tenses, sentence types, semi-colons, colons, brackets, hyphens, commas, subordinate clauses, prefixes, word classes, apostrophes, pronouns, synonyms and antonyms. The questions are formatted in the same way as the SATs papers, so the children are asked to circle, tick, fill in the missing gap and write full sentences. This resource includes an assembly plan and 16 slide PowerPoint for Black History Month in October. It is suitable to use with KS2 or secondary aged children. The slideshow gives the opportunity to discuss why we might focus on black history for a month. It covers prehistory, ancient civilizations and 18th and 19th century Britain. There are 6 slides which outline key achievements of 6 different people of African or Caribbean descent, who have achieved great things in the past few centuries from Nelson Mandela to Mo Farah. (Please note no photos of the people are included owing to copyright restrictions). The plan gives details about how to use the slideshow. I like to lead assemblies that are interactive and relevant to the children’s lives, so the plan gives plenty of opportunities for children to discuss ideas, give feedback and reflect.

This resource is a powerpoint containing 50 short SPaG starters or morning activities. Example starters include spotting nouns in a sentence, adding missing punctuation and recognising which sentence is a command. Perfect for practising SPaG.

This resource is a set of 5 Art lessons based around the theme of the sea, oceans and water for KS1. The key skills that are taught include creating different tones and shades with paint and pencil, using shapes, patterns and lines and experimenting with different materials. There are 3 different artists used as inspiration, all of whom have painted the sea or water using very different techniques. The children have the opportunity to work alone for 4 lessons and part of a collaborative group project for the final lesson. They have lots of opportunity to choose what materials they work with. The 15 page pdf lesson plans are very detailed and include a list of any resources you will need to get out of the cupboard. There are also details of curriculum links and examples of work from my classes. I have included the simple 7 slide PowerPoint I used for the series of lessons, which contains examples of the artists’ work around which the lessons are based. I hope you enjoy the lessons! These Year 2 Remembrance Day comprehension activities are split into 3 differentiated levels. Each level contains 3 comprehensions with answers. They are: What is Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday? Why do we wear poppies? ‘The First Remembrance Day’ - A fictional original tale following two children during the two minute silence in November 1919. The higher level (Super Super Challenge) is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper and is a similar length to a SATs paper. The middle level (Super Challenge) is similar to the higher level but contains texts that are slightly shorter and a few easier questions. The lower level (Challenge) contains texts that are much shorter and different easier questions. This resource is a plan with all accompanying resources for teaching a lesson about Jesus feeding the 5000. It is aimed at 5-7 year olds and is highly interactive. This is a set of three lesson plans and resources to teach children about the Jewish holiday of Passover. It is suitable for ages 7 - 11. There is also a 41 slide PowerPoint presentation to accompany the lessons which includes a topic introduction, the Passover story and details of how Jewish people celebrate Passover today. This is a plan and resources for a French lesson to use with KS2. This is a presentation on the explorer, Christopher Columbus, who discovered the ‘New World.’ Use it as part of a lesson or for an assembly. The presentation covers Christopher’s childhood, his early sailing years, his voyage and his discovery. The last part of the presentation includes some interesting questions to provoke discussion or for further exploration. Columbus is one of the key historical figures mentioned in the KS1 curriculum, so this presentation would be perfect for introducing the explorer.
