This bundle contains a selection of interactive lessons aimed at whole class or group phonics. The lessons cover early phase 3 - the individual alphabet sounds.
Each lesson takes 15-20 minutes.
The powerpoint lessons are split into different sections:
- Revision of phase 2 phonemes in a random order
- Introduction to the new sound and opportunity to trace the shape of the sound
- Segmenting and blending words
- Phoneme counting
- Phoneme spotting in sentences
- Writing words with focus sound
- Writing a sentence
- Revision of common exception words
This is a 5 lesson French unit for beginners, perfect for using with KS2. It teaches children vocabulary all linked to holidays, covering countries, transport, types of holidays, accommodation and holiday activities.
The plans all give details of a starter, how to teach the new vocabulary, followed by a combination of listening activities, speaking activities, reading/writing activities and plenary. Each lesson is highly interactive and allows children to practise a range of language skills.
All resources needed for the lessons are included in the price. This includes a PowerPoint for each containing the new vocabulary.
(This unit could be combined with the five previous Blossoming Minds’ French units to create an entire year’s lessons for your KS2 class!)
This is a plan and resources for a French lesson to use with KS2. It involves children learning the vocabulary for different types of holiday, such as holidays by the sea or in the mountains. The plan could be used for an individual lesson, or as part of a longer holidays unit.
The plan gives details of a game for a starter, how to teach the vocabulary, a whole class listening game, a speaking and listening activity, a written activity and a plenary. It is highly interactive and allows children to practise a range of language skills.
I have also included a version of the written activity for Google Slides if you would like your class to complete it on a tablet or computer. To do this both you and the children need internet access and Google accounts. You can choose to use either the printed or digital worksheets.

Each comprehension contains a short piece of text (about 5 sentences) with words that can be sounded out. There are three trickier words which have pictures to help children work out what they say.
The text is followed by 5 simple questions.
There is also a powerpoint included in the pack containing a slide for each text so that you can go through the comprehensions before the children complete them. Each slide also contains 3 words that are trickier to sound out, with sound buttons underneath them.

Year 2 Comprehensions - Remembrance Day
This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. There are three differentiated sets of instructions on how to carve a pumpkin (with an adult), with differentiated questions. It would be perfect for using in the autumn term around Halloween.
Each booklet has a colour and black & white version. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘why,’ ‘which’ and ‘who’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions, true and false questions and some that require more detailed answers. There are four pages of pictures with short written extracts to read and 3-5 questions per page. The higher ability booklet has 18 questions in total. The middle ability has 15 questions and the lower ability has 12 questions. Answers are included. All of the booklets are in the zip file.
