I'm a tired teacher just like you; fighting to balance the importance of my own life with the fun and high level of education I want to give my students. I hope these resources save you time so you can focus on the important things in life.

Very simple writing stimulus for the Roal Dahl story of BFG. I have used this for my writing moderation from year 2 to 6. It can also be a very simple homework for the kids.

Cut and laminate this chart to display at the front of your class. Children will quickly learn what noise level you expect within specific lessons. Great evidence of clear clear expectations within lesson observations.

Example of write up and the evidence I used to show I had met each teaching standard while completing my teacher training. Great to use for ideas while for your teacher training or performance management targets.

Fun board game for learning new vocabulary and recognising words which have a silent ‘h’. Lesson plan included to give you ideas and explain how to play. I would recomend printing the game on a3 and laminating, this got me my first ‘outstanding’ in lesson and kids really love learning the new words! Enjoy!

Habitat Boardgame

Habitat Boardgame

(0)
A cool little boardgame which can be used as an introduction to the topic, assessment at the end of topic in KS1 or as a knowledge harvest in KS2. Children pick up a card with an animal or plant on it and they move around the board choosing which habitat or micro habit that animal lives in. The game ends when all the cards are gone. The game targets these KS1 science objectives in the English Curriculum: a)identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other. b) identify and name a variety of plants and animals in their habitats, including micro-habitats.

Mythological Creatures Fashion Show

This is a fun assembly script for ages 5-11! It introduces 5 mythological creatures via a fashion show ran by your class. There are speaking parts for 30 children, one song, a range of sound effects and costume ideas for each creature. Mythological creatures include; a minotaur, dragon, cyclops, siren and Medusa. Personally I laugh out loud at this assembly and children love doing it! It has some brief back story for some of the creatures and also highlights their physical appearance/skills in a more engaging way. Enjoy :)
Giraffes Can't Dance Nursery/Reception Assembly

Giraffes Can't Dance Nursery/Reception Assembly

(0)
A nursery/Reception assembly retelling the story of ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ by Giles Andreae. The teacher acts as the narrator, then there are 6 other speaking parts. Every other child will wear an animal mask and perform in a short dance as a group. The assembly includes full script, links to 6 songs and actions. I also used these dances to teach very fun PE lessons. This is a great way to allow Nursery/Reception children to do a fun assembly they can be proud of and not just stand up and show pictures of their work. Enjoy :)
'How to draw a lion' Activity

'How to draw a lion' Activity

Includes step-by-step instructions both written and drawn as to how to create a cartoon lion. There is both a word and Powerpoint version. I’ve used activities like this regularly to improve my classes listening, confidence in art skills and get used to positional language. I have used this in RE when teaching Daniel and the Lion’s Den as well as science when studying animals. If you wish to use this as a literacy activity I have an alternative resources which is the same but altered to find word classes or focus of imperative verbs. I would use this activity throughout the keystages giving the picture step-by-step for younger ages and simply giving audible steps for older classes. Hope it saves you time :)

'Twas the night before Christmas' Nursery/KS1 Assembly Script

(0)
Assembly script based on the ‘Twas the night before Christmas’ poem. The script comprises of 30 parts. The teacher or Teaching Assistants should narrate while the class act it out through mime or dance. Santa is the only speaking part, which could be covered by a teacher too. The script is extremely adaptable and funny. The original poem was wordy so it’s been altered slightly, but is sure to bring tears, laughter and Christmassy joy.

Song Box

14 images and song titles. Cut and laminate each them put them into a box or bag, shake it up and allow the children to choose one to sing at the end of the day. I've done this activity with every year group upto y2 and they loved the independence of choosing the song. Also great for EAL kids to develop language skills with the rest of the class.

Self and Peer Assessment Resource

Display this powerpoint at the end of a lesson. It shows symbols used for self assessment and a range of sentence starters for pupils to record in their books for both self and peer assessment. The sentence starters are general and should be applicable to all subjects. Saves a lot of time rather than recording red pen questions for individual children.
