This is a sixteen page workbook that features a number of different tasks. It focuses on spelling, punctuation and grammar and can be used beside the functional skills writing module. After you have showed them the important SPAG techniques, they can then practice what they have learnt and work their way through this booklet. This is aimed at Entry 3 / Low level 1 learners. The tasks included are as followed: Spelling syllables alphabetical order using a dictionary plurals prefixes suffixes Grammar homophones ( four tasks including an extension skim/scan task) Common grammar errors Punctuation -capital letters -end marks -commas -apostrophes *Attached a word document and rich text format version

This is a twenty-two page PowerPoint that is designed to be used with learners who are due to complete their English Functional Skills writing examination. It is designed for L1 and L2 learners and is entitled: Review Writing The PowerPoint is a step-by-step guide of how to format and write different types of reviews. At the end of the presentation, there are two review writing tasks for learners to attempt. For one of the review writing tasks, I have given on-screen ‘tips’ on how to plan the content of the review and how to ‘expand’ a draft version of the text, in order to raise the learners word count and to also make it more engaging for the reader. The PowerPoints contents include: How to write a review How to format a review What to include in a review Sample assessment questions How to plan your review’s content and how to ‘expand’ your writing There is also a booklet attached which includes a review template and contains the two writing tasks that can be also viewed in the PowerPoint.

This is a twenty-nine page PowerPoint that is designed to be used with learners who are due to complete their English Functional Skills writing examination. It is designed for L1 and L2 learners, however, can be used to teach Entry 3 learners. This module is: Letter writing. The PowerPoint is a step-by-step guide of how to write and format a formal letter. At the end of the presentation, there are two letter writing tasks for learners to attempt. For one of the letter writing tasks I have given on-screen ‘tips’ on how to plan the content of the letter and how to ‘bulk out’ a draft in order to raise the learners word count. This resource is a group activity where members of a team inspect a building to identify any hazards that pose a risk to employees who work there. This task has been used as part of a City and Guilds Employability module with adult learners. It has also been used as a team building task with KS3 learners. The team must inspect the building and identify hazards, before using a ‘Risk Assessment Matrix’ in order to determine the severity of the risk. Following this, they will then take part in a group meeting to discuss their finding. The seven page booklet has all the task sheets needed to complete the task and all instructions that the group must follow.
