This is a number line to hang in your classroom, simply print off the flags, fold along the line and glue onto some string. It goes on a continuum of colours with cold colours from the negative numbers going through to hot colours

Counting back in 10, 100 and 1000's or generating sequences

I created this to use with my low ability Year 7 class. They were struggling in counting back in 10's, 100's and 1000's when we were generating sequences. This worksheet gives them the starting number and they have to find the first 5 terms. It is differentiated with some of the harder questions going past zero

My lessons are based on 80 minutes but could be altered to suit the length of your classes. It has a settling starter, learning objectives slide, a main starter, examples of the activity with notes to be copied into books, differentiated questions, an extra practice activity and a plenary These are the activities I have chosen for this lesson: Starter – Subtraction practice Settling starter – Match up angle types Extra practice activity – Treasure hunt Plenary – Exit ticket All my lessons are set up in a similar way to allow consistency when teaching. They are also all graded based on the new 1 – 9 grading system. Please leave feedback and if you find anything that needs to be changed let me know and I will inform you when it has been done so you can download the latest version. Thank you please take a look at some of my other lessons

Simplifying expressions - collecting like terms

This is a full lesson based on 80 mins but you could alter it for your own lessons. It starts with a finding the perimeter activity which they should be able to do and will need for when you move onto the extra practice qwizdom. There is then a learning objectives slide followed by a match up activity which looks at the language of algebra and how to express information. This is followed by examples that get slowly more difficult before moving onto a notes slide that they can copy into books. There are then some differentiated questions to try. The extra practice activity is a multiple choice qwizdom that links perimeter of shapes with simplifying algebra as this is often seen in exam questions. The plenary is an exit ticket, there is a word document so you can just print those off.

There is a selection of differentiated questions to complete with answers. The extra practice activity is a treasure hunt task. The plenary is an exit ticket which is in a word document so it can just be printed off to stick in books at the end of the lesson

This is a full lesson based on 80 mins that could be adapted for shorter lessons. There is a settling starter to recap square numbers followed by the learning objective slide. There is then a short starter about how to write in index form. There are then examples of indices with multiplication, division and brackets and notes to put into books. There are then differentiated questions followed by a tarzia activity for extra practice. Tarzia is not supported on TES so I have copied it into a word document for use. This lesson goes through how to use a prime factor trees to find the highest common multiple and lowest common factor. The settling starter goes over using venn diagrams. The next slide is the learning objective followed by the starter which goes over finding a product of prime factors which they have done in the previous lesson. The main part of the lesson has two examples followed by a notes page so they can put a worked example in their books. There are then some differentiated questions to have a go at. If anyone is still struggling there is a qwizdom with the venn diagrams provided. Finally the plenary is an exit ticket which is on a word document ready to print out. It is planned with an 80 min lesson in mind but could be altered for a shorter lesson.

This is a full lesson based on 80 mins but you could alter it to fit your classes. The settling starter for this lesson is simplifying fractions as they will need to be able to remember that during the lesson. This is followed by the learning objective slide and a starter that recaps adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator from last lesson. There are then example slides that include what to do if you are multiplying by a whole number and notes for students to copy into their books. This is followed by some differentiated questions. The extra practice activity is 10 quick questions, these slides are automated to move on after 30 seconds but you can change the time if you don't think your class will need as long. The plenary is an exit ticket, there is a word document for this so you can just print those off
