Edexcel GCSE History: Anglo Saxon and Norman England Key Topic 2 Lesson covering Anglo Saxon rebellions against William This fully resourced lesson has everything you need to teach the rebellions against William. In reality it will take two lessons to do it properly and properly tell the stories of the Saxons who fought back. Covers the rebellions of Edwin and Morcar, Edgar Aethling and King Sweyn and Hereward the Wake.

This lesson is an intro to the Suffragettes for Y9- it examines Victorian attitudes towards women and looks at despite rich women having some benefits they were still repressed in terms of rights in the household, their opinions etc. Includes video clips from Mary Poppins and Oliver Twist, sources from anti-women’s suffrage posters and also discussions around how far sexual equality has moved on since women got the vote with modern adverts and stats.

OCR ALevel History Russia 1894-1941 Topic 2: Towards a Constitutional Monarchy. This two hour lesson examines the creation of the Duma from the October Manifesto and the limits of the Fundamental laws. Also examines the challenges of the Duma and the makeup of them and why Nicholas dissolved them each time. Includes detailed information and all resources needed if you do not have textbook pages from Corin and Fiehn- I have typed up all necessary info onto documents to accompany the lesson.

This is my first double lesson for ALevel Russia (OCR) course 1894-1941 I use pages from Oxley/ Corin and Fiehn or Access to History by Lynch but students can do their own research with ipads or use the slides also if you do not have access to any of these textbooks to find the information. There is a lot of info in here from various sources so does not matter if you do not have the textbooks. Looking at an intro to Russia in 1894 including the context of Alexander II and III reforms and autocratic repression and how this legacy would cause Nicholas II problems from the outset. Also examines the issues/ challenges facing Nicholas as he ascends the throne in 1894. Students complete a “health report” on RUssia and then analyse Nicholas’ main problems ready for the next lesson (Opposition to Nicholas’ rule). Includes make yyour own card sort activity and some analytical thinking about the positive and negative impact of reform and beginning indurstrialisation. Will actually take 3 hours plus to get through it all - there is a lot! I am including my course guide which took hours in this lesson has topic check lists, key people, key vocab etc which is needed for students as well as tips for good essays and exam paper past questions. This is why this is a bit more expensive than my usual lessons- will get your ALevel Russia students off to a flying start. This lesson is a fun and unusual way of introducing the great powers in 1900 and getting pupils to think about International Relations. I took the idea from a version of this at my training school but this is 100% my own version of it with added ridiculousness. It is by far the best introduction to International Relations for KS3 I have ever done. I’ve also used it for Year 10 studying International Relations pre WWI and it worked very well. This is a KS3 lesson for Y7/8 and has quite a high challenge/ stretch and challenge for more able pupils. It follows on from my lesson on Henry VII and his problems and solutions and is best used with the attached glossary of key terms. It also addresses many of the misconceptions about Henry as a fat tyrannical ruler that we know he became later in his reign and looks at the optimism of a young Renaissance Prince- handsome and youthful in stark contrast to his father,

Lesson for Edexcel Politics ALevel Introduction and Overview to Feminism lessons- this is a double lesson plus note making for homework on Feminism and its development over time. Begins with looking at issues facing women in the 21st century e.g. female genital mutilation, rape and sexual assault, gender pay gap, violence against women and girls etc- students discuss and swap articles and then the lesson develops from there. Introduces some of the key thinkers e.g. Perkins-Gillman, Wollstonecraft and Friedan as well as Bell Hooks.

This introductory lesson looks at the context of WWI and the new advances in weaponry as well as the key Battles of WWI. Very developed and detailed resources for students including video clips of documentaries about battles and key features such as the blood bank at Cambrai, the underground hospital at Arras etc. Examines the nature of Trench warfare and Attritional warfare as well as tactics such as Creeping Barrage to minimise injuries in the battles.

Edexcel GCSE Medicine Through Time This lesson looks at causes of/ symptoms of ill health and injuries in the trenches linked to weapons studied in lesson 1-- Battles. This source based lessons has students looking at evidence / information to find out about specific illlness/ injuries and the issues around it. Also has a match up exercise on who treated the sick? RAMC and FANYs looking at their roles on the Western front. Includes a retrieval quiz for the battles of WWI
