Interview in German relating to the film 'Into the white'. The film features Rupert Grint (of Harry Potter fame) and is based on the true story of German and British air crews, who were shot down in the snowy wastes of Norway in WW2 and who had to co-operate to survive. The interview is with German actor Florian Lukas (Goodbye Lenin!) about the shooting of the film, and is followed by questions in English.
Revision of useful phrases relating to asking the way and understanding directions. followed by a look at the formal versus the informal imperatives of four key verbs. This sets the students up for a playscript in which heart-throb Harry Styles has to ask the way to the station, having been given his marching orders by Taylor Swift. The script then becomes the basis for a writing task.
Text about what data you should and should not include in your Facebook profile, what can happen to, or because of, the data that is there, and how to change your settings. Text is followed by a 'Find the phrase' exercise, a text manipulation exercise, an extended speaking task, a bit of grammar (modals), and a writing task.
9 images and short speculative texts relating to travel in the future, which act as a springboard for class discussion. Used it with my Year 12s. The first slide acts as a homepage for the activity. Students pick a number and are hyperlinked to a slide.
This replaces a previously uploaded version which simply did not work (as my Year 12s discovered.) A text about three contrasting holidays has been broken up and students must reassemble it correctly. This is followed by the original text (ie the solution), a reminder of the Adjective / Comparative / Superlative constructions, and an exercis comparing two of the holidays.
This is an edited version of Kiffen und Komasaufen, which I uploaded previously. This version has been altered to suit the needs of my AS class. The text is followed by a richtig/falsch/nicht im Text exercise, questions in German, a 'find the phrase' activity, a translation into German of English language data regarding the situation in the UK, and a writing activity in which students must then compare and contrast the data from both countries.
The worksheet features (i) a dialogue between a hotel manager and a disgruntled guest, regarding items in a room which are all in the wrong place (ii) questions in English prompting students to analyse and explain the changes in the definite article after the prepositions an, auf, unter and in.
Activity featuring the 12 Olympics posters commisionned from artists such as Tracey Emin and Rachel Whitread. The Powerpoint aims to stimulate speculation, discussion, interpretation, a bit of guesswork, and suggestions for titles. Lots of questions in German to structure discussion and (hopefully) get the pupils thinking. The title of each piece can be revealed with a mouse-click once suggestions have been made.
This a version of a resource I've already uploaded. It focuses on gender and the change in masculine articles in the Accusative. Instead of the 'Family' vocab in the other version, this one features vocab from 'Der Hobbit' and was made to help some Tolkien fans in my year 9 FL2 class to have a rudimentary conversation about the film.
Slide 1 acts as a homepage for the activity. Students choose a number and are hyperlinked to one of the following nine slides. Each of these slides features a character from the Hunger Games plus on-slide support to help students say something about the character. Able students could use the support as a starting point for extended observations.
Text about the use and spread of Crystal Meth in German followed by AS-style questions in German. This is a less edited version of an authentic text I've previously used and uploaded to TES as a GCSE text.
