The lesson starts with a review of basic research methods such as ethical guidelines, hypothesis, types of experiments, research design using 'numbered heads together'. (instructions in slide 'notes') An interactive powerpoint presentation to outline each of the 5 sampling methods required by AQA (Random, Opportunity, Volunteer, Stratified and Systematic). This is followed by an application task (worksheet provided) and an evaluation matching task (worksheet provided) both with accompanying answer

A series of resources for approximately 3 hours worth of teaching. The first lesson ‘outline Milgram’ consists of a video, summary task and paired discussion to consider ethical issues of the study. The second lesson starts with a review of the study and key figures related to the study, then this focuses on evaluation of Milgram with a framework using a P,E,E format. Finally the third lessons outlines and evaluates Milgrams variations including proximity, location and uniform. Within this lesson there is some research methods/maths embedded as well as an application style exam question. Attached is also a set of ‘quiz quiz trade’ cards which review all the content above as a plenary / starter or even revision task for students.

This is a revision lesson. It is designed to help students to calculate and report the findings of the sign test as well as define and answer questions relating to type I and type 2 errors. This is a fully resourced lesson with both a presentation and student handout. The lesson starts with definitions of key terms e.g. statistical testing and probability. The powerpoint then provides a step-by-step demonstration of how to calculate the sign test and how to report the findings of the statistical test. Then students are given 2 examples of studies which require them to calculate the sign test and report their findings. An extension task is provided which requires students to report the findings of 3 other studies using the sign test. Finally students are given a definition of a type 1 and type 2 error, with 3 exam-style questions to complete(suggested answers in the ‘notes’ box on the powerpoint.

A lesson in which students will learn to outline the working memory model and also apply their knowledge of the model. The lesson requires students to summarise the WMM with a framework to structure their notes. The powerpoint includes an application style question for students to apply their knowledge of WMM. Finally there is a question and answer loop to review WMM which might be used as a handout or the questions/answers displayed around the classroom as a kind of 'treasure hunt' activity.
