I have used Mac mind mapping software MyThoughts to design a visual mind map for foundation Maths GCSE. There are 4 main categories: Shape, Number, Graphs and Algebra. Each category has branches - these are by no means exhaustive but do cover the main topics. Pupils can annotate it with pictures and equations from memory - e.g. as a starter. Alternatively they can put their confidence level next to each branch - as a happy/ neutral/ sad face or as a score out of 10. This can be printed clearly in black in white and displayed in the classroom as colour.

This is a homework project with 2 optional extension tasks where students research what hearing is. This homework is set at least a week in advance and is used as the basis for a peer teaching lesson which is guided (facilitated) by the teacher. Students may produce a written textbook page or podcast.

This is a personal learning checklist created for AS chemistry to check understanding of mole calculations. A comprehensive list of AS mole calculations is provided. Students identify what they can do after a lesson or homework as they progress through a topic. At the end both the student and teacher sign to say that the student can complete do these tasks. This is a worksheet on atom economy and percentage yield for GCSE chemistry (grade B+) that is printed as A4 handouts on atom economy and percentage yield. There are three reactions that all make Magnesium sulphate (Epsom salt) as the useful product and so atom economy can be compared along with issues such as toxicity of waste products or reactants. The YouTube video shows how Epsom salts are used in the garden. The formula for atom economy is included. The answers are not yet included and will be uploaded shortly.
