This lesson is split into 2 parts where students look at both health and safety risks when using a computer.

This lesson takes students through the new GDPR rules, risk areas and explains how companies can comply with the new regulations. This is more of an introduction lesson for Key Stage 3 (could be used for Key Stage 4). Consequences are also briefly covered. Students then answer questions using a test paper to check their learning.
Students will understand the term ‘programming’ whilst using Kodu.
Students will use Kodu to create a world and program Kodu to move.
Students will then design and create their own game whilst providing evidence.

This unit has a lesson presentation for every lesson that includes a starter activity, main activity and plenary. Resources also include homework, worksheets, helpsheets and an overall assessment sheet that can be used for self, peer and teacher assessment. A full Scheme of Work is also provided.
This unit of work is suitable from Years 6-8 depending on ability.
KS3 ICT and Computing Workbooks for Remote Learning
These workbooks are used with my Year 7 Computing Unit of work (also on Tes). We can’t use a computer room at the moment so these booklets go with the lessons (booklet 2).

Understanding and Using Databases
This Unit could be taught at Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 (Year 7-8).
This unit introduces the students to Microsoft Access. It includes 9 lessons that involves students exploring the software whilst understanding the basics. For example students are asked to:
Explain what a database is and its uses (give examples)
Understand both paper based and electronic databases
Design and create a Superhero Database from scratch
Add and edit records in the database
Ask the database questions in order to search
Create different types of queries to search (basic, multiple and Boolean)
Produce a report to show evidence of understanding
Unit includes an overview of all the lessons and an overall teacher/students assessment checklist.
This unit is a great start to the basics of Computing. Once students have learnt the basics listed in the lessons below they then take two test papers for assessment throughout the unit (test papers and answers provided). This is a 1-2 hour lesson that could be delivered to KS3 or KS4. Students discuss, watch a video and go through the 4 main clauses and penalaties. They are then asked to research further and answer questions relating to the Act.
Using Spreadsheets
This Unit could be taught at Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 (Year 7).
This unit introduces the students to Microsoft Excel. It includes 8 lessons that involves students exploring the software whilst understanding the basics. For example students are asked to:
Explain what a spreadsheet is and its uses
Edit and format an existing spreadsheet
Understand and use basic formula and functions
Create and label graphs and charts correctly
Produce a report to show evidence of understanding
Unit includes an overview of all the lessons and an overall teacher/students assessment checklist.
Use the following lessons to get students to plan and design a video first using a storyboard template.
Students can then practise using Open Shot through teacher demonstration or using a video tutorial on You Tube.
Student then create a video using Open Shot and evaluate for homework.
Using Microsoft Publisher
This Unit could be taught at Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 (Year 7 or 8).
This unit introduces the students to Microsoft Publisher. It includes 9 lessons that involves students exploring the software whilst creating different documents. For example students are asked to:
Create a poster to advertise their school
Create a birthday card using a template
Produce a letter to their new pen pal
Create a 4 paged leaflet to advertise a Zoo
They are also asked to review their learning and can independently produce their own document using templates provided.
Unit includes an overview of all the lessons and an overall teacher/students assessment checklist.
Students are asked to follow the Systems Life Cycle to analyse, plan, design, create, test and evaluate a website for The Theme Park. Each lesson as a presentation (left plain so you can add your own background). Students can use the Systems Life Cycle document to carry out all tasks, stretch tasks, homework tasks are also included.
I have provided a SOW, overall assessment sheet/checklist and step by step guides for both how to create a website using Serif Web Plus 6. Students are also given a test paper (lesson nine) to check their learning for the unit.

This KS3 ESafety unit contains 8 lessons with lesson presentations, worksheets, homework, assessment for learning checklist (student, peer and teacher assessment), SOW, keywords sheet with meanings etc. Most lessons have a video that needs to be played for students to watch and then discuss as a class.
This unit allows students to identify the dangers of using technology online and through the use of a mobile phone. Students are given up to date facts and statistics.
They are also asked to create a leaflet to make the audience aware of the risks whilst suggesting solutions/preventions for each E-Safety area.

THIS UNIT CAN BE USED FOR KS3 OR AS AN INTRODUCTION FOR KS4.
The aim of this unit is for learners to understand the basics of programming and be able to code using Python. Learners will be taken through a series of 8 lessons that will enhance their knowledge of programming. This will give them a feel for programming and allow them to possibly choose this as an option for their GCSEs.
Learners will use Turtle commands to draw basic shapes, use IF statements and loops to create a simple program. Create a computer program which will include an IF and ELSE statement as well as loops. Create a simple test table which carries out three tests and explain and justify good and bad features of my solution.
This Unit is an introduction to Safety Smart (E-Safety). Students also use and practise skills in PowerPoint to evidence their learning. Unit contains lesson presentations, starter tasks and videos for students to watch and discuss the dangers of E-Safety and how to prevent any risks.

This unit will enable learners to understand pre-production skills used in the creative and digital media sector. It will develop their understanding of the client brief, time frames, deadlines and preparation techniques that form part of the planning and creation process.
Planning is an essential part of working in the creative and digital media sector. This unit will enable learners to acquire the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to create digital media products and gain an understanding of their application.
On completion of this unit, learners will understand the purpose and uses of a range of pre-production techniques. They will be able to plan pre-production of a creative digital media product to a client brief, and will understand how to review preproduction documents.
Learners studying the optional units will be able to apply knowledge and understanding gained in this unit to help develop their skills further during the completion of those units.
