I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. They are fully resourced RE or Citizenship lessons, worksheets or 15 minute assemblies/tutor time PSHE sessions suitable for 11-18 and some can also be used for younger audiences.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about the rise in household bills in the UK from 1st April 2022. This also covers the energy crisis, cost of living and the new laws that are now in place from this date. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and includes many discussion activities that could easily be lengthened as written activities if you wanted it to last for a 60-90 minute lesson instead. It was used as a Citizenship whole school tutor time session for the week before the price hike. It includes: What is happening with the price rises? Why are the wholesale energy prices rising? -What sort of things are being increased? Prices such as council tax, cars, energy etc with figures. A downloaded and clipped video which will never disappear about the new laws that are taking effect in the UK from 1st April 2022. Class debate around personal responsibility for changing actions to help How this links to the British Value or Rule of Law How this connects to the UN Rights of a Child Discussion and reflection point Links so students can watch or read about the issue further (excellent for online platforms) Quotes, pictures, dual coding, reference to other news stories of the week Ends with an online news quiz Extension video if you are going to use this resource for a lesson - downloaded and clipped so it will never disappear. This is a narrated powerpoint but it can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated. This session fits into the Citizenship and PSHE curriculum but also covers SMSC, History, RSE and Health Curriculum and Fundamental British Values. Students reacted very well to this resource and many interesting discussions came from it.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. It is specifically about this year’s commonwealth games and focuses on how it will change and has changed the city of Birmingham. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) as an assembly or tutor time session. It has no written activities just discussion tasks but this can easily be changed to make it last a whole lesson. It includes: Information about the Commonwealth Games What the Commonwealth is How has it affected the people of Birmingham Advantages and disadvantages of the Games How the city will be tranformed A debate about whether it is positive for the city How it connects to Fundamental British Values How it connects to the UN Rights of a Child Reflection and links for students to look at later and links to other news stories Pictures, logos, dual coding throughout 2 downloaded videos that will never disappear Students received this session well and it was originally a whole school resource for a tutor time Citizenship session. It is narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated.

This is a 15-30 minute tutor time session celebrating deaf awareness week. However, it can also be used for deaf awareness at any time of the year. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18, Grade 6-12). It was originally a Citizenship session for the whole school. It includes: Information about deaf awareness week Information about how many deaf people there are in the UK Information about the devices people use A downloaded and clipped video which will never disappear about what ‘deaf’ means How we can support those in the deaf community What British Sign Language is and why it is important Activity and infographic getting students to sign their own name A connection to Fundamental British Values, UN Rights of a Child and a Reflection task Other links to watch the news There are discussion and activities throughout but this could easily be changed into written tasks to last a whole lesson if required. It includes dual coding and logos throughout. This presentation was well received by all year groups and many have gone on to learn BSL as a result. This is a 15-20 minute assembly about emergency first aid. It covers how to perform CPR and stop heavy bleeding. This is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-12) and can be used as a tutor time session, PSHE or Citizenship lesson or Health whole school assembly. It fits into the new RSE and Health Curriculum of 2020 but can be used for other purposes to teach people these important life saving skills. It includes: What CPR is How to perform CPR How to stop bleeding when someone is bleeding heavily What a defribrillator is Infographics to remind students of first aid Dual coding and discussion task This does not include any written activities but ends in a discussion task about whether you should give anyone who needs it CPR. There may be BBC links in that only work in the UK. This was originally used for a Year 11 PSHE tutor time session about emergency first aid after an introduction to CPR earlier in the year and in school. Debate question regarding the £350 a month the UK government will give to anyone taking in Ukranian refugees How this connects to Fundamental British Values How this connects to the UN Rights of a Child Reflection and discussion points throughout Extra links so students can research further (mainly for online platforms etc or you are using it for a longer lesson) Links to newsround and bbc news website for a look at the news today. It was used as an assembly for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12).
