This unit is entitled Violent Earth. It covers natural disasters and how they occur and the impact they have. (Developed from QCDA model and G.A.) Adapted by Alan Stevenson. There are 1-5 lessons here. I have planned for 4 lessons. The last two PPT were heavily adapted by myself to create more visuals in Lesson 3 and potential worksheets from them. I was observed in both Lesson 3 and 4 and received a good grade. PDFs cannot be edited but the PPTx and Docx Files can be edited.
Each page contains a cube to be cut out and glued together so that a student may roll the cube and give information relevant to the side it lands up on.
These cubes will help with revision and can be used in a simple game with a cube for each person or table. They can roll their own or respond to another person’s cube.
They are based on the Edexcel Unit framework but the key terms, events and people noted on the cubes can be used for another exam board.
The blank versions are attached so that you and your students can create more of your own for this topic or others
This contains cubes with
*The Tudor Monarchs
*The Stuart Monarchs
* The Wives of Henry VIII
*Elizabeth I's Suitors
*Blank Cubes for you to create your own.
These can be used for homework activities, lesson activities or as revision tools for Key Stage 2 to 4.
FREE versions are available elsewhere.
Resources here for two lessons - Can be one if you have covered Roman Numerals already. Then you can focus on the Extended Tasks.
Lesson works as an introduction into Roman Numerals and evolves into how they permeate our lives. This then feeds into the extended tasks and sees how the legacy list connects to now.
Mind maps can be used in both lessons.
A simple worksheet that can be used in class or for a homework assignment. The idea is for the student to generate their own variants of the poster that would fit into a different historical event or time frame. Perhaps "Keep Calm and Ignore the Mongols!"
This means it can be used multiple times throughout the year as an assignment.
You can edit the Docx file to make it work for other subjects.
Label Tasks - Usage of animal - importance from how it is use
Hunting of Buffalo Images - importance from how it is hunted
To know how Plains Indians hunted buffalo and to understand how they used the whole animal
To explain how buffalo hunting changed over time and recall the uses of different parts of the buffalo
To be able to evaluate a claim about Plains Indian culture
These lessons allow you to explore the causes in different ways. They do work without textbooks.
Lesson 1 has the students looking at the causes from the point of view of Cromwell and looking at them as Power, Money and Religious causes. You should watch the first 10 minutes of the Cromwell Film. It is on DVD and edited parts are available online.
Lesson 2 has the students exam a list of cases as if they were Power, Money or Religion or Political, Economic, Social, Cultural or Miltary factors.
Lesson 3 or alternative for Lesson 2 looks at the list of events as Long, Medium, Short term and Trigger Causes. Here you can explore the snowball effect of events or shifting pendulum. (Watch more of the film)
Lesson 4 makes use of the students previous, three lessons, your discussions and the film for them to form their own opinions. There are model answers and various supporting documents for them to use.
These lessons can be combined. You can make use of the Wordles as fascinators or starter activities. The word searches can be starters or homework activities.
There is a FREE version of some of these resources.
Look for my Civil War Bundle.
This is a lesson that makes use of freely available INFO sheets and asks students to extract relevant points from different sources and communicated their answers onto a PROFILE sheet.
The ALTERNATIVE LESSON or extension lesson makes use of the different visual sources and poses the question on her he wanted people to see him. Wordsearch and Key Terms can be used for starters or home work assignments.
There is a little bit of English bias here. I have tried my best to eliminate it. Personally, I feel he gets a bad rap and is comparable to most monarchs before him and elsewhere in Europe.
LO: To select information & communicate it effectively.
Two lessons that have no connection except they deal with Native Americans - Buffalo and Pocahontas.
Create a timeline of the settlements in America or the US expansion in the 1800s. Use the date cards to help.
Topic 1 contains word searches on the Natives.
We all know what an elevator pitch is. Here I have adapted them to History. But you have bought the original so do what you will ;)
Have your students complete one as an activity, starter, plenary or even a homework. Here are various worksheets and handouts in A5 and A4 format for them to complete. The Powerpoint explains it all. Have fun!
