In this lesson we focus on some of the key themes within the novel. This is also a close marking assessment preparation class whereby students go through different tasks to prepare for this. The lesson is structured in such a way whereby students start with a ‘Do Now’ and have an opportunity to give their points across through classroom discussion and think-pair-share. This is a full scheme of work unit I created for ‘Of Mice and Men’. The bundle includes everything you need including a 40 page SOW and also 20 PowerPoint lessons. Each lessons have a structure of a ‘Do Now’, Think-Pair-Share, Information, Main Task and Plenary along with others. A PowerPoint presentation that analyses Bertie and Lionel's relationship in The Kings Speech. There are links to two particular scenes showing the development of the relationship embedded in the PowerPoint which are used for students to analyse. Students are then asked to work in pairs to create a timeline of this relationship. Students have clear aims from the start and deep analysis of the relationship is explored using questioning, visual prompts, pair and individual work.
