Teachers who tackle issues around abuse in personal and social education have been given extra materials on child prostitution. A pack produced by Glasgow, It Couldn’t Happen To Me, tries to make vulnerable young people aware that they are not to blame if they are sexually abused through prostitution. Many have a history of care, running away from home and drug misuse. Alison Elliot, the city’s resource worker on domestic abuse and violence against women and children, admitted it was “a difficult issue for teachers”. Four secondaries piloted the materials.
