Children of prison inmates should be recognised as a potentially vulnerable group, with appropriate training needed for teachers, MPs have been told. Seven per cent of school-age children will be affected by having a parent - usually a father - in prison, said a group of prison charities.
“Prisoners’ children are the innocent hidden victims of crime, and are far more vulnerable than other children to becoming involved in crime in later life,” said the Prison Advice and Care Trust.
