Another regional schools commissioner is resigning from her position to lead a multi-academy trust in the region she currently oversees.
The Department for Education today announced that Lisa Mannall will leave her role as RSC for the South West of England at the end of the academic year to join Cornwall Education Learning Trust as CEO.
She took up the RSC post in September 2017, having been a member of the headteacher board in the region for three years.
As an RSC, she makes decisions about academies and multi-academy trusts in the region.
Two years ago, a Tes investigation into RSCs who left the role to work for academy trusts sparked concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
RSCs joining academy trusts
Three previous RSCs - Pank Patel, Tim Coulson and Vicky Beer - had announced that they would resign to take jobs with MATs, although Ms Beer later reversed the decision.
There is no suggestion that any of the RSCs behaved improperly or broke any rules.
Commenting on Ms Mannall’s resignation, interim national schools commissioner Dominic Herrington said: “I would like to thank Lisa for her work with academies and free schools across the South West to help continue driving up standards and challenge high-performing academies to share their success with other schools.
“I wish her well for the future.”
The DfE said that details of Ms Mannall’s successor will be announced “in due course”.
