The chief executive of one of the UK’s largest exam boards has been appointed as chairman of the Babington Group.
Andrew Hall, who has been in charge of AQA since 2010, will join the apprenticeships and skills training provider as non-executive chairman. Babington Group has helped train 15,000 apprentices over the past five years.
Mr Hall was previously chief executive of the former Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. He has also acted as non-executive director and chairman at the Joint Council for Qualifications.
‘Impact of apprenticeship reforms’
Carole Carson, chief executive of Babington Group, said: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew as our chairman. His experience in the education sector along with his commercial experience will complement a strong team working towards our strategy for the apprenticeship levy. Andrew will be extremely valuable to Babington, as will his track record of driving growth.
“Andrew’s appointment will help us to continue supporting employers and helping to gain economic growth, and deliver the next phase of Babington’s growth strategy.”
Mr Hall said: “I am looking forward to working with a strong team to grow Babington’s impressive presence in the growing skills and training market.
“Employers, learners and the government rely on Babington to provide high-quality and relevant courses. This trend is set to increase with the impact of new apprenticeship reforms in coming years.”
