Invigilators working on non-Scottish Qualifications Authority exams in Glasgow secondaries have traditionally been paid by cheque, but a direct transfer scheme has changed all that.
However, the computer buffs clearly found it difficult to categorise the exam beaks, so it was with some surprise that they opened their pay advice envelopes to find they were classified as “visiting artists”.
“I know we’re versatile as invigilators,” one commented. “We do walk tightropes, deal with high drama and stop the black arts of cheating, but I’ve never thought of myself as a visiting artist to the school before.”
