Two days of action this week at James Watt College in Greenock were called off after last-minute talks with the Educational Institute of Scotland.
The college has struck an interim agreement with the union and will reopen talks on revised terms and conditions which should be concluded by mid-June, the original target date for around 100 compulsory redundancies.
The college has agreed to withdraw the letter sent out to staff on March 15, which spelt out the need for redundancies affecting 70 full-time equivalent lecturers and the dismissal of all other staff and their redeployment on inferior conditions.
