Has news of the teacher shortage yet to reach the corridors of Broadcasting House? We think that must be the reason for an audacious advert placed in The TES this week by opportunistic BBC personnel managers seeking “exceptional individuals” for its Broadcast Journalist Trainee Scheme. Undeterred by the laest news, featured regularly in its own bulletins, the traineeship ad starts: “The main headline this hour: teachers set to become BBC journalists.”
Whether it’s a story that will be appreciated by heads, governors and education officials as they struggle to keep staff, remains to be seen.
