Assumptions about sport “jocks” being the dunces of the class have been dealt a knockout blow by news of premiership footballer Frank Lampard’s results in a recent IQ test.
Doctors studying how head injuries affect the brain tested the entire Chelsea squad, and Mr Lampard scored among the highest marks they’ve ever recorded.
Sources at Stamford Bridge have claimed Mr Lampard scored more than 150, putting him in the top 0.1 per cent of the UK and within striking distance of former Countdown presenter and Tory maths ambassador Carol Vorderman, who has an IQ of 154. Einstein’s was 160.
His score, well ahead of the national average of 100, has led to him being dubbed “The Professor” by his teammates.
Before becoming a footballer, Mr Lampard went to Brentwood School, a private school in Essex, where he passed 12 GCSEs including an A in Latin.
