It was encouraging to see the prominence given by your lead article (March 27) to the Association of Colleges’ capital funding summit of March 23, which I chaired. However, it was disappointing that the article gave the impression that the event was just for principals as there was strong representation by corporation chairs, governors and senior managers.
The capacity turnout indicated the strength of feeling and degree of despair felt across all levels of management in colleges over this issue. It also provided a powerful illustration of the potency of our unified sector and the central role governors play in both advocacy and representation.
John Bingham, Chairman, Association of Colleges; chair of governors, Thomas Rotherham College, Rotherham.
